#4 of the "It's Been Home In Here Alone" album. Having written my farewell poem to Tooth, it was time to write my hello poem to Prema. Having paid for the pressing of fifty copies of the album, Tooth got me back to Santa Cruz and tried to hang out but he and Prema clashed so he drove away and I never saw him again. So, I got my guitar out and wrote "Purple Flowers" as a fingerpicking folk-pop ballad, but it morphed into a Cello Sonata, so come mastering time, I just sang to the cello-piano duet. The lyric may have been tweaked slightly, but only slightly.

Starlight was inspired by the Five Night's at Freddy's character, "Moon." It tells the story of the robot's point of view as it sings a lullaby to a child. It starts out as caring, but later becomes a warning as he struggles with a violent virus that is corrupting his coding. His base code is fighting the dark urges in an effort to try to protect them, at least until their counter part, "Sun," can take over and save the child. 

The beginning motif, played on the Celesta (mimicking a music box), appears numerous times in the piece, representing Moon's true good nature. 

This is a live recording (2024). Instrumentation includes 1 flute, 1 oboe, celesta, vibraphone, bass drum, soprano voice, 2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello, and 1 double bass.

I’m mainly a painter, although I can play simple tunes on the Guitar, Ukulele Charango and Keyboards; hence I think of my musical compositions as ‘sound paintings.’ When I’m creating a new piece I try to picture the scene and the emotions in my mind. The descriptions and the uploaded images are there to assist the listener to visualise my musical creation.  My view of any kind of art be it painting, sculpture or music, is that it should leave an impression, whether it is good or bad is up to the individual viewer or listener. The viewer/listener either likes it or not. I always have music playing (sometimes I even dance to the music) while I’m painting, as it keeps me in the mood of that particular artistic piece.  My main musical influences are Jean Michel Jarre, Frank Zappa, Los Calchakis, Tchaikovsky and The Rolling Stones. I also create small sculptural pieces, write poetry and short stories plus occasionally photography. . My artistic influences are Van Gogh, the Fauvists such as Matisse, Derain and Vlaminck, French and Nordic Impressionists namely Monet, Cezanne, Munch, Osslund and Erichsen.  Nolde, Kalella, Klimpt, Hokusai, Hundertwasser and  Wu Guangzong have also had an influence on my work.

I make music in almost all styles including one of my own. I grew up next to the Mojave Desert in orange-growing country and moved to Hollywood twice and then moved to the ocean and organic farming in Santa Cruz. I love Bach...
