What flower is the world today?
Is it grieving, blooming, torn away?
In the garden of our hearts, we sway—
Each petal tells the truth we couldn’t say
Morning breaks in scarlet streams
The rose recalls forgotten dreams
Each thorn a tale, each bloom a cost
Of battles we survived, and hearts we lost
Sidewalks stained where grief once stood
But beauty grew in shattered wood
A red that whispers, “You were here”
And wraps the pain we’ve learned to bear
But there’s a flower blooming still
Through broken days, it finds the will
Daisy grace and lilac light
Hope survives the sleepless night
The world may bruise, the roots may bend
But petals rise—and love won’t end
Noon ignites the burning ground
The sunflower spins without a sound
She doesn't ask, she simply grows
Even where no mercy shows
Tall and stubborn, fierce and bright
She doesn’t flinch in blinding light
From fields gone dry, she lifts the flame
Reminding us we’re still the same
Evening glows with fragile breath
The cherry bloom outdances death
One gust, one giggle, one soft break
She teaches us what time can’t take
A blur of beauty, here then gone
But in that fall, we carry on
She doesn't stay, she doesn’t plead
Just leaves her joy and plants the seed
Don’t wait for spring to start the show
The tulip climbs through frost and snow
She rises when the sky won’t clear
When dreams feel lost and hope’s unclear
From frozen ground, her roots still hum
A quiet bloom when no one comes
She doesn’t shout, she doesn’t flee
She just becomes what she must be
You gave us wolves and whispered rain
You gave us stars and hurricane
You gave us stillness, thorns, and thread—
A thousand gifts we left unsaid
There’s still a flower blooming here
Through every doubt and shadowed year
Daisy days, sweet lilac skies
Hope survives… and love still tries
The world may ache, the roots may bend

they said i’d echo where i’ve been

Where the Music Goes

In the shadows of Apache Junction, at the foot of the majestic Superstition Mountains, sits a weathered hacienda. This desert oasis is home to an enigmatic figure, a songwriter whose journey reads like a long, dusty road of honky-tonk bars and college cafeterias. He wasn't chasing fame or glitter; instead, he chose the soul-crushing beauty of music for music's sake.

Years spent hunched over sticky barroom tables and scribbling lyrics on napkins earned him a reputation—not in the spotlight but in the back rooms where deals are made. He wrote melodies that found their way into the hearts of stars who had lost their own muse. He sold his creations for cash, with no recognition, but the whisper of his songs carried the weight of his soul.

Finally, he bought this piece of desert paradise—a stable income from his timeless songs allowed him to live comfortably, if anonymously. Here in this hacienda, with his family beside him and the mountains as his backdrop, he found the peace to write hits under his own name. He chuckled at the irony that now, without chasing fame, he could create music that brought him joy.
