Disillusionment

Story ! 
A "small" galaxy meets a "large" galaxy! The first is very precise, very clean, well placed! In the distance through a cloud of gas, it guesses the large galaxy, beautiful, slender, and approaches it little by little. After several unsuccessful approaches and a particularly tumultuous meeting, their intertwined destinies will give birth to a third galaxy, considerable and very different. In the end, a new and unexpected landscape emerges. And of course all this in a sidereal and infinite silence...

- De facto I - est extrait de l'album "55 Hz" (ode à la flûte octobasse) composé et interprété par Bernard Wystraëte en 2023 pour le Label MAP (042). Cet opus est résolument minimaliste et contemporain, inspiré d'univers multiples, indien, classique européen, brésilien, guidé par la voix d'un chant guarani, ondoyant sur le souffle des flûtes traversières, accompagné de sonorité électroniques résolument innovantes.

55 Hz scherzo est extrait de l'album "55 Hz Ode à la flûte octobasse" de et par le flûtiste/compositeur Bernard Wystraëte; cet opus est le premier dédié à la gravissime flûte octobasse Roosen, et mixé et réalisé en 5.1 et son binaural.

Clouds above the horizon

Cette œuvre fut composée en 1906 par le jeune Paul Paray, peu après sa sortie du Conservatoire National de Paris, cinq ans avant qu'il obtienne le Premier Grand Prix de Rome.
Voici la première exécution "moderne" de cette Fantaisie, car Paul Paray ne la dirigea que deux fois (chez Lamoureux en 1926, Marcel Ciampi au piano, et chez Colonne en mars 1937, avec Jean Doyen).

Eugene Istomin fut étroitement associé à la période "américaine" de Paul Paray, qui lui confia le 4e Concerto de Beethoven pour ses tout premiers concerts avec le Pittsburgh Symphony, les 15 et 17 février 1950. Leur succès fut tel que Paul Paray fut invité à conduire une tournée de 5 semaines (et 25 concerts) avec l'orchestre, à travers les USA.
De retour en France au mois d'août 1950, Paray invita Istomin au Casino de Vichy, pour un festival Beethoven. Suivit une collaboration amicale qui ne prit fin qu'en 1965... 
C'est bien plus tard, en octobre 2000, qu'Istomin décida de rendre hommage à Paul Paray en enregistrant sa Fantaisie, avec la complicité de Jean-Bernard Pommier (son ancien élève), qui dirigeait alors l'Orchestre symphonique de Budapest.

Graphic artist, writer, and just a budding musician.

Playing piano is my daily therapy against stress. That also repels the rodents that attempt to squat my attic in winter !

As an insomniac, I mainly play at night. Each improvisation is like a snapshot of my mood and state of mind of the instant.

I record almost everything I play. From time to time one of these improvisations inspires me enough, and I use it as a basis for a composition.
