Sushma Shankar is an engineer and the co-founder of Deep Planet, an agritech company that uses satellite data to help farmers get the best out of their land in the face of climate change. 
The company was born out of a conversation in the pub where Sushma and her co-founders, Natalia Efremova and David Carter, had gathered after their Oxford Executive MBA course. Their aim was to use their combined knowledge and experience for the benefit of the planet and the people who look after it. Sushma talks to Kathy about her journey from demonstrating the world’s first 4G phone call to leading a pioneering tech company. And she reflects on the challenges of being a female leader in a sector traditionally dominated by men.

Feminist Frontiers in Climate Justice - Climate Injustice: A Gendered Global Crisis

As Trump assembles his cabinet of dangerous cranks and far-right extremists—Tulsi Gabbard, Matt Gaetz, Pete Hegseth, Tom Homan, RFK Jr., Mike Huckabee, Chris Wright—his election is being openly celebrated by reigning fascists and arch-reactionaries from Russia to Hungary to Bosnia. The fascist world order that began to consolidate under his first term is poised to be cemented under a global triumvirate of tyranny—Trump, Putin and Xi. In this light, Biden's cooperation in the transfer of power is a shameful betrayal not only of the nation but of humanity—and Trump has still failed to sign the ethics pledge mandated by the protocol of presidential transition, making clear his ill intent. He has clearly stated his intention to set himself up as president for life. And evidence that the Kremlin directly hacked the vote on behalf of Trump (rather than merely using disinformation propaganda, as in 2016) warrants investigation.

Furthermore, the Insurrection Clause of the 14th Amendment, under which Trump was impeached, should be invoked to bar him from office. There is still time to stop the fascist takeover of the United States through the Electoral College or in the certification process. Despite the Supreme Court decision upholding state laws against "faithless electors" who refuse to vote for the candidate they pledged for, this is by no means equivalent to the "fake electors" contrived by Trump's team to try to throw the 2020 election. On the contrary, it is a constitutional mechanism, as outlined by Hamilton in the Federalist Papers—and not explicitly barred (at least) in Article II, Section 1.

It should also be noted that Trump himself is not cooperating in the legal protocols for the presidential transition, giving the forces of democracy an airtight position for non-cooperation with his ascendance to power.

But a mass movement on the scale of the post-electoral protests now seen in the Republic of Georgia and Ecuador is urgently mandated.

Prof. Tensie Whelan is the Distinguished Professor of Practice for Business and Society and the Founding Director of the NYU Stern Center for Sustainable Business. With over 25 years of experience in local, national, and international sustainability issues, Prof. Tensie is dedicated to advancing the proactive and innovative mainstreaming of sustainability within businesses.

As President of the Rainforest Alliance, Prof. Tensie grew the organization’s budget from $4.5 million to $50 million and recruited over 5,000 companies across more than 60 countries to engage in sustainability practices. Under her leadership, the Rainforest Alliance became an internationally recognized and credible brand. Prior to this, Prof. Tensie served as Executive Director of the New York League of Conservation Voters, Vice President of the National Audubon Society, Managing Editor of Ambio, a journal of the Swedish Academy of Sciences, and as a journalist in Latin America.

Prof. Tensie has been recognized by Ethisphere as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Business Ethics. She was also a Citi Fellow in Leadership and Ethics at NYU Stern and has served on numerous nonprofit boards. She currently sits on the advisory boards of ALO Advisors, Edelman, Giant Ventures, and Nespresso. She was recently appointed to the board of Emerald SPAC and is an Advisor to the Future Economy Project for Harvard Business Review.

Prof. Tensie holds a B.A. from New York University, an M.A. from American University, and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Owner President Management (OPM) Program. She was awarded the Stern Faculty Excellence Award in 2020 and named Distinguished Professor of Practice in 2023 in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Stern and the field of sustainable business.

Earlier this year, the Australian Government passed into law the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standard (ASRS), COP 29, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan is on, the Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) has launched a new Environmental Claim Code, and the AANA joined the other industry bodies, the Media Federation of Australia (MFA), the Advertising Council of Australia (ACA), and the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) in launching the local chapter of Ad Net Zero.

EcoJustice Radio presents environmental and climate stories from a social justice frame, featuring voices not necessarily heard on mainstream media.

Our purpose is to amplify community voices, broaden the reach of grassroots-based movements, and inspire action. We investigate solutions for social, environmental, and climate issues with an eye to advance human health, steward wild landscapes, and solve the climate crisis across the USA and the world.

Kelley Hazen is an actress, blogger and audiobook narrator living in Los Angeles with her husband and their two awesome dogs. The Los Angeles Times describes Kelley’s work - "...listen to Kelley Hazen, so poised and well spoken, so in command of this room full of strangers you wonder why she isn't off winning Oscars...." Kelley received recognition from Audible.com as ‘Best New Audiobook Talent’. She twice received the Audiofile Magazine ‘Earphones Award’ for her narration. 
She holds an MFA from The Asolo Conservatory for Professional Actor Training. Kelley is a lecturer in astronomy for the world-renowned Griffith Observatory.
She was recently invited to participate in “A Celebration of Mark Twain” as part of the annual HEAR NOW Festival in her hometown of Kansas City, MO.
Kelley owns and operates Storyteller Productions, an intimate, boutique, recording studio carved into a San Gabriel Mountain hillside.
