This is the second attempt i've made at a "Kaskade" inspired progressive house track, with my first try being "Afterhours Bliss." This track is heavily trance inspired and takes some synthwave cues as well, such as the rolling bassline. Some tech house elements can also be found throughout the track. This was made via heavy sampling and several Midi tracks via Serum 2 by Xfer Records. 

Midnight Trance

This is very much a Kaskade-inspired progressive house track that also draws some elements from tech house. The use of a flanger was used in place of reverb to help de-clutter the track and create some space. The trails and decay of the verb and delay were muddying up the track. The vocal samples are a bit tricky, as they start on the offbeat and drag right into the pocket. Despite the sound, they are actually quantized and in time with the rest of the track, verified via quantization. Some of these tracks are side-chained as needed. This is also the first time in a while that I've used organ stabs rather than piano stabs. 

The organ stabs follow a chord progression of Aminor7 - Cminor7 - Fminor7 - Db(Maj7,9,13)), taking on a rather odd ♯III⁷ – v⁷ – i⁷ – ♭VIᴹ⁷(9,13) pattern. However, it's surprisingly pleasant in a mix despite being slightly jarring in isolation.

Needless to say, this is not a minimal track by any stretch of imagination, and the music theory behind this one is extensive, especially from both a melodic and temporal standpoint.

This one aims to be another feel-good and easy-to-vibe-with track.

Missing Time

This is a longer, refined version of "You and I,” edited to better suit a live setting. The mix is also more articulate and “spacey,” compared to the rather muddy sound of the original track. This one is more “DJ-Friendly” than the first revision. This is due to the extended introduction and the inclusion of slightly more sections of "hypnotic repetition," aimed at this purpose. 

The bassline and melody are also sidechained to the kick drum to add that "pumping" motion.

Original description for "You and I": "This is another track that combined elements of Synthwave and House music, as well as drawing in elements from other styles such as synthpop, electro-house, bass house, progressive house, and trance music just to name a few. This is another song inspired after an entire night of binge listening to The Midnight's Album 'Syndicate.' This also might just be my most vocal intensive track yet. The initial mastering done by me and completed with Aurora at 60pct. The track is very dense and I had to cut some low end off, but the overall width and volume of the track more than make up for it."

Mind Expansion Project

New Journey

So for the last few days, i've been binge watching tutorials on John Summit's YouTube channel and this is the result. It's as stereotypical of a tech house track as you will find and is rather obviously inspired by John Summit lol. It's in the key of E minor @ 130 bpm. The entire track was composed in Ableton Live 12 Suite with a mix of some Ableton instruments, Serum 2, and various tweaked samples. The end result was then mastered in Logic Pro. Ableton is a game-changer for EDM music, even if I still prefer Logic for some other tasks or styles.

Transcendence

This track is a direct follow-up to "Transcendence." Like the latter, this track is a beat-driven tech-house track that keeps things simple and punchy. The song is repetitive and hypnotic, but this is intentional. It's tech after all. The second half of this track features a prominent "squelching" bassline, borrowing elements from both electro house and acid house.

Simple

What I enjoy most is creating tracks you simply can’t sit or stand still to — music that makes you want to move and fills you with warm, sunny energy. “Funky Groove. Real Move” turned out exactly like that. I’d be happy if it makes you want to turn up the volume and start dancing.

"Chill Out" is a focused and beat driven tech house track that remains steady and consistent. It's rather mellowed out and not as aggressive as the tracks I have been putting out lately. This one is more about the vibe, percussion and groove than anything else. The initial layers of the track start on the offbeat and drag into place. There are also two contrasting basslines that are both side-chained to the 909 kick

Chill Out

"Neurotic" is an extremely hypnotic tech-trance track that is rather lengthy and repetitive; albeit it evolves with filter sweeps, layering, and other methods rather than melody or chord progressions. This nature is a big reason behind why I chose to name it "Neurotic." 

The song consists of MIDI files and some sampling all performed within Ableton Live 12 Suite. 

Neurotic

"Will of Fire" is a straight-up tech trance track fused with acid techno. It's intense, uplifting, and flat-out "rave happy" all at once. The song was composed in Ableton Live 12 Suite, and some notable techniques include intense side-chaining to the rolling bassline. Much like "Xenon Universe," this song is very much Ferry Corsten-inspired and features a prominent supersaw lead, sprinking in some of that "System F" magic.
