Compound - Unbeliever [Premiere]

Amelia Macho chats to Functional Ecology author Patrick Finnerty about his recently published research article "Odour information enables patch choice by mammalian herbivores from afar, leading to predictable plant associational effects". 

The team demonstrated that elephants can make patch choice decisions from afar using plant odour cues alone, and that these decisions lead to predictable associational effects on the susceptibility of high-quality focal plants to be being eaten. They also used a new method to reduce an entire complex odour profile of a low-quality plant species and reproduce this odour information artificially. This simplified odour set was as effective as real low-quality neighbours in shaping elephant patch choice and subsequently providing associational refuge to the focal plant.

This research could offer a new tool to influence herbivore foraging decisions, with implications for wildlife management and conservation, including plant protection.

SurowyStan - Dj, promotor, producer.
Born in Warsaw, begun his first steps in electronic music as a fan of D'N'B in 2008 at CDQ, Indeks, 1500m2 clubs.
Beining inspired by Black Sun Empire, Cause4Concern he imbibed and sunk in clubbing culture, constantly searching for an unique sound. 

In 2010 after witnessing Love Parade in Duisburg as well as Mayday in Katowice his taste in music shifted to Techno and upon those changes Surowy Stan initiated productions and sets in such genre.
At the beginning his various productions oscillated in Minimal, however with time his music underwent gradual change of subgenres into Minimal, Industrial and Oldschool Techno.
Voltage and tempo is Surowy Stan's flagship of the older productions of artists such as : Pacou, Surgeon, Regis, Exium. In addition, the nature and sound of Surowy Stan- "Harsh Stan", is a reflection of berlin's club Tresor as Harsh Stan /Harsh Sound is a flagship of it.

Apart from all above Surowy Stan is also a proud co-organiser of underground electronic music initiative - Quality Control.

Beginning his DJ career at the age of 15 in California, Spitfire began drawing inspiration from early 2010s artists such as Porter Robinson, Madeon, Dada Life, Zedd, and Knife Party. He secured his first DJ gig at Furality Luma, marking his entry into the DJ world. Fast forward a few years, and he attracted the attention of various clubs in the VR DJ scene, such as Doghouse Rave Night, Placeholder Club, and Virtual FurMix to name a few. He also returned as a three-time DJ for Furality, making another appearance at Furality Somna in 2025. Gaining recognition in all the right places, some of his tracks have been supported by notable DJs around the world such as Kusaki, Amyotte, Revelion, DieselSaurus, BeamFlare, Wildfire, and Zitro, all in the same year he celebrated his 21st birthday. From that point forward, it was full steam ahead as he made his live debut at Another Furry Con, now known as Anthro SoCal. And he's just getting started. With a passion for complextro, electro house, and progressive house, Spitfire aims to bring back the lost sounds of the early 2010s while giving them a modern twist to keep you on your toes with every set. Oh, did we mention he has a permanent blep?
