Vapored Eyes is my 12-track mixtape that captures a cinematic experience while respecting the memory of Progressive and post-Electronic music. 

From the intense “Synthapede”, with its unconventional progression and unsettling tone, to the pulsing heart of “The Last Train Home”, that feels like a surreal bittersweet goodbye, Vapored Eyes is my passion project that offers my view on IDM and Experimental Synthwave.

Conceptual, feminist, noisy, terrifying. You probably don't want to listen to it. It could be the exit music for a Dario Argento remake of The Shining.

Disquiet Junto prompt 0694 suggested taking a song that is in 4/4 and adding a beat per measure (5/4).  I knew right off the bat that I wanted to do a glitchy sample thing, so I went diving into the Internet Archive for popular music from before 1926. I came across a really nicely cleaned up 1919 recording of Irving Berlin’s “A Pretty Girl is Like a Melody” sung by John Steel.

The rest just came out like that and it seemed right. It feels like a response to the notion that pretty girls have to be melodic, because we can be noisy and no less pretty for it. So I channeled some punk feminist energy and created a lot of chaos. But I swear, it’s 5/4 under there.

A ritual of the choirs, it begins when nothing remains.
FERDDOM, bearer of omega, does not rise until he falls, unitl he remembers.
He remembers what the Enlightened tried to erase.
He remembers the Judgment born before time.
He learns the end is not closure, but passage.
An echo reversed of a sleeping god.

From the Golden Mirror to the Chamber of Silence,
a prayer cast into the simulated heaven,
the song of the first to fall… and to know the truth.

The choirs are hushed.
The thrones decay.
The Sun burns inward.
And at the heart of the eclipse, the omega glows on the saivior's sacral.

This is not the beginning, but it is not the end

And only those who fall… may rise again.

Coraline Ada Ehmke creates original experiential music from NOSIGNAL Multimedia Lab in The Shambles, Chicago. The Hard Times described her music as "creepy, haunted, but also a little bit uplifting." Prolific.
