The Hunt of Wolves is my most experimental and electronic work to date — a dark, intimate score composed for the theater play by Becca Hoback and Mihail Bonev.

Set in a post-Soviet dystopia, the music explores surveillance, fear, submission, and resistance through fractured melodies, ambient textures, and dissonant electronic landscapes. Each track echoes the emotional shifts of a man trapped under the gaze of invisible eyes, hunted not by beasts — but by systems.

This is not background music. It is a sonic stage.
A poetic descent into control, chaos, and what remains of the self.

Deformed Fractals

This is an original piano piece that tells a story through sound. It's an "Aleatoric Scherzo"—a musical jest (scherzo) composed using principles of chance (aleatoric). The result is a composition that feels both timeless and spontaneous, where every note paints a different shade of emotion.

Rickyjam – Live set “In C” (Terry Riley Tribute) | Music Talk 2025, Museum of Music Bologna
On November 2, 2025, Rickyjam (Riccardo Nanni) performed an electronic live set inspired by Terry Riley’s famous minimalist work “In C” at the Museum of Music in Bologna. This live set was part of Music Talk 2025, a mini-series of three events dedicated to Riley, included in the broader festival #novecento – music from another millennium.
By reworking some of the 53 patterns from the original piece, Rickyjam creates a hypnotic soundscape made of electronic drones, ambient textures, and trance pulses, embodying the minimalist tradition with its collective and experimental nature. Music Talk 2025, a POPCult SRL project supported by the Municipality of Bologna, celebrates Riley as a pioneer of minimalism and offers a platform for dialogues, performances, and immersive sound experimentation.
This set fits into a cultural journey that blends innovation and homage, exploring contemporary sonic territories with deep roots in modern music.


In Sync - In C Reloaded  - Liveset

These two songs form the first instalment of a series of works for different instrumentations based on drawings by Max Ernst. To create the drawings, Ernst would start by placing a sheet of paper above a natural surface, such as stone or wood, and then rubbing with his pencil, transferring the natural patterns onto the page. He would then bring out shapes from the rubbings using a pencil freehand, finding faces, horses, eyes and so on within the natural patterns.

As a composer with a great love of birdsong, this procedure interested me hugely, above all the idea of finding recognisable shapes within nature. It is by no means completely random that certain shapes keep appearing, all sorts of geometric and physical laws lead to convergences, just as acoustic laws lead to convergences between birdsong and human music. Chance too, of course, plays an important role.

To create the first of these songs, I slowed down a recording of a nightingale and a chiffchaff singing, which I had made in Greece, and selected an extract which seemed to me to have pleasing, musical proportions. I then transcribed every note I could, as faithfully as my ears would allow me. When transferring this transcription to the form of a song, I was allowed to add material in the form of counterpoints, repetitions and harmonies, but not to remove it. The second song uses the same procedure, but this time the bird singing is the much more consistent blackbird, which I recorded on my daily walk.

The text was a comparably late addition, partly inspired by the drawings which each piece is
associated with. I was interested to see if I could use my metaphorical freehand pencil to shape each song so that it reflected the form of Yvan Goll's texts.

This wonderful recording was made with Will Jowett and Hanna Csermely at the "Arts in 1925 France" Conference in Leeds.

Elegy For My Mother (2025)

A short piece for string orchestra in memory of my mother, who passed away in April 2024 aged 83.

When I was about 3, before I was old enough to have piano lessons, my mother would sit me on her knee while she played J. S. Bach's Minuet in G (BWV Anh. 114). She would pause allowing me to play to repeated 'G's each time. It is my earliest memory of playing the piano. 

It would be lovely for this to have a live performance.

The Forgotten Moment

It begins on the threshold of silence. A single thought falls like the first raindrop onto still water, drawing quiet circles.

From the depths, a feeling ascends, formless at first, a warm shadow searching for contour. It is the heavy breath of memory, an echo that as yet bears no name.

Slowly, it takes shape. A longing begins to sing, voices weaving into an intimate dialogue. The twilight deepens, filled with the bittersweet colour of those moments thought to be lost.

Until a sudden, clear beam of light breaks through the mist. It illuminates the scene for one precious instant. The feeling becomes clear, the memory suddenly present—tangible, luminous, and painfully beautiful.

"The Forgotten Moment" is the capturing of this fleeting instant: a rediscovery within the fade, just before the silence returns.

As Wolf Hagen, I compose music for the silence between the notes. Drawing from the tradition of great masters like Bach and Pachelbel, I find inspiration to weave baroque clarity with the emotional complexity of our time.
The interplay of piano and cello stands at the heart of my work – two voices that complement, challenge, and exist in harmonic tension with each other. I add orchestral elements with care, never to dominate, but to open spaces: for reflection, for stillness, for those precious moments of pause.
My compositions are not statements, but invitations – to discover hidden emotions, to find quiet in a noisy world.

Bosques de mi Mente is the moniker of Spanish composer Ignacio Nieto Carvajal, a minimalist composer of contemporary and cinematic music. He launched the project in 2007 in Spain, focusing on evocative, nostalgic soundscapes that explore the tension between noise and silence, memory and present reality.

Bosques de mi Mente blends piano, strings, found sounds, and electronic textures to craft music that pushes the boundaries of ambient, cinematic, and experimental genres. His compositions often evoke childhood memories and emotional landscapes, creating a fragile balance between chaos and calm . Several of his works are entirely improvised, captured in single takes to preserve their raw intimacy.
