This album was originally released for streaming in 2020 and is appearing on SoundCloud for the first time now.  It was my first album featuring works for a large ensemble with music performed by Camerata Philadelphia conducted by Dr. Stephen Framil with guest artists Brett Deubner and Peggy Pei-Ju Yu. Tracks include THE FOUR ELEMENTS for viola and string orchestra, PAVANNE FOR A WORLD WITHOUT WAR for string orchestra, IN PRAISE OF REASON for cello, 2 horns and string orchestra and MYSTICAL SONGS for soprano, viola and string orchestra setting poems by the Spanish mystic Fernando Rielo.  The album's title comes from one of his poems.

A Strobe Fractures Obsidian Night was written for the October 2024 edition of the Novalis Festival in Osijek, Croatia. The video content of the work delves into the ecological theme of light pollution, inspired by the artistic innovation of Aleksandar Srnec's Lumino kinetic art and Croatia's proactive stance on ecological issues. The graphical material was generated through AI via Stable Diffusion, then crafted manually and algorithmically in Adobe Premiere Pro and Max/MSP. A Strobe Fractures Obsidian Night features an open instrumentation ensemble of four performers whose parts relate to four streams of fixed audio playback. Special thanks to Davor Branimir Vincze and Szilárd Benes for all of the help throughout.

Mountain Songs and Village Dances for Piano

The entire sound is in my hands. I write cyber poetry, produce, and compose every track — only in Immersive 3D. Every beat is crafted for spatial and next-gen headphones.

For 30 years I kept unfinished demos to myself, never letting them out. Now I finish what I start and release it the moment it’s alive.

JERICHO WOOD is a London based composer-artist. Their passion lies in crafting engaging and inclusive musical experiences, fostering a collaborative spirit that empowers ensembles to find their own creative voice.

Wood honed their skills at the prestigious Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, graduating with First Class Honours in Music (Composition) under the tutelage of Andrew Toovey. Their talent was recognized early on, with "The Song of Achilles," a song cycle for baritone and chamber orchestra, receiving a performance by the Northern Film Orchestra and a recording funded by the BCU ADM Graduate Award and collaborated with Orchestrator Alexander Proudlock. This work was also highly commended by the Philip Bates Trust during the Philip Bates Competition for Composers and Songwriters.

Furthering their education, Wood pursued a Master's degree (MA) in Mixed Composition at the University of Birmingham, where they studied with the renowned composer Michael Zev Gordon. While there, Wood participated as the principal oboist in the university's New Music Ensemble, performing iconic works like "Only the Sound Remains" by Howard Skempton and John Cage's groundbreaking "4’33’’."

Wood's experience extends beyond the concert hall. They have actively participated in various workshops and creative projects, demonstrating their ability to collaborate effectively with musicians of diverse skill levels. Their fluency extends to both traditional notation and innovative methods like graphic scores and improvisation.

Wood's dedication goes beyond personal creation. They are passionate about fostering the next generation of musicians. This passion is evident in their recent appointments as a Composer Mentor at Creative Access (2024) and a Tutor of Piano, Oboe, and Composition at Twang Music Academy (2024). Previously, Wood held internships at Sound and Music (Education Intern, 2023) and A.R.M.E. Augmented Reality Ensemble (Research Assistant, 2022), further solidifying their commitment to the musical landscape.

Wood's creative output is impressive. Their compositions have been performed by esteemed ensembles like the 315 Ensemble, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, the Ligeti Quartet, and the University of Birmingham Chamber Choir. Works like "Unfolding Spiral" (2023), "Schrödinger's Cat" (2022), and "I Heard A Thousand Blended Notes" (2023) showcase their versatility and depth. 

With a strong foundation in education, performance, and a commitment to inclusivity, Jericho Wood is poised to make a significant impact on the contemporary music scene. Their innovative spirit and collaborative approach promise a future filled with captivating and thought-provoking musical experiences.

Samuel Pradalie is a composer whose musical output consists of naïve, witty pieces, focusing on an aesthetic of Brechtian Alienation and the uncanny. Drawing heavily from the surrealist tradition, particularly the anti-virtuosic approach of Erik Satie his aesthetic language consists of awkward interruptions, repetitious materials, surreal thematic dialogues, fragrantly sentimental harmonies and kitschy melodies as well as experimenting with endurance. His music draws also draws on a number of extra musical influences including Montage techniques from Soviet Cinema, and DIY aesthetics. Samuel has worked with a number of ensembles and organisations including the Amatis Trio, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, Lietzeorchester Berlin, Tête á Tête opera Festival and Borough New Music and has been performed at such diverse venues as the Rundfunk Hall Berlin, Blackheath Halls London, West Road Theatre Cambridge, St Georges Bristol.
