Raise our glasses high but we ignore the grind
They built the rails with sweat on their backs unseen
While we sip champagne in the limousine scene
Gravy train moving fast, destination unknown
Luxury reflected in the windows of chrome
But the yard yards away where the engines roar weak
The workers clock out, the profits peak
We count the zeros like prayers in the night
But every market crash hides a human plight
Money’s the blessing they sold as the holy gift
Turns out the chains are heavy, the weights lift

Ride the gravy train, glinting gold in the rain
Smile for the lens while the others feel the pain

Corporate towers glisten like altars of god
We bow to the ledger, applaud what they prod
We’re kings of the slide-board, masters of flex
But the cost of the ticket’s hidden in specs
We wear the brand-logo like scripture of worth
But the souls that supplied it still walk the Earth
We draft the contracts, they dig the mines
We drink from the goblet while they thirst for the lines
The train’s whistle echoes in the valley of noise
Where the workers huddle, the exploited boys
We ride past stations labelled “sacrifice”, “margins low”
We wave from the windows while the engines go slow
Fake luxury dripping from our wrists and our necks
While the supply chain strains under the lack of respect

Final whistle blow, the train stops at the gate
We step off in tuxedos but we carry the weight
Of hollow applause, empty deals sealed
Of human cost hidden behind the wheels
We pass the velvet rope, cameras flash our names
While factories idle in the shadows of fame
They made the tracks, we bought the ride
Now we market the dream and the others died
The buttery text on the brochure says “success”
But the bill-folded pages hide the process

We feast at the feast while someone else feeds

Swipe the screen, hearts float light
Perfect smiles in the filtered night
“Thanks for your support”, flashed in the feed
Gratitude styled for the viral need

I post the dinner photo, captioned “blessed”
But inside the kitchen my heart’s in unrest
Likes pour down like fake applause
While real thanks hide behind the laws
We celebrate the moment, skip the cost
Gratitude packaged, authenticity lost
“Thanks for the love”, I say to the stream
But the mirror’s silent when nobody screams
We tag the brand, we tag the vibe
We thank our crew while we barely survive
In the hall of comments the praise is cheap
But the nights of solitude still run deep

Like in place of love, screen in place of touch
Thank you for the mind-share, but I need so much
Feed full of thanks in a world so grand
But sincerity’s missing on the command

Stories vanish after 24 hours
But the need to be seen devours the power
Filters shine bright, reality dull
We serve the image while the hunger’s full
We thank our followers like they’re family
But the chair beside us stays catastrophically empty
We double-tap the moment, triple-tap the trend
But at the table of truth we don’t comprehend
We whisper “grateful” to the lens in the frame
While the ghost of our longing calls out our name
The feast is virtual, the hunger is real
In the feed of thanks what do we feel?

Appreciation shallow in the digital race
We craft the smile, rehearse the pose

We owe the algorithm more than we get
We film the toast, we freeze the gaze
But when we lower the camera the hunger stays
“Thanks for the views” says the post above
But underneath the table, we still lack love
So we drink the applause, swallow the fake
And thank the feed for the audience we take

2025 Recap : the Avant Garde Broadway Musical
