In Norse mythology, Huginn and Muninn are a pair of ravens that fly all over the world, Midgard, and bring information to the god Odin. This couple flew over my droprig from left to right last night.

Huginn and Muninn

Sur un front de falaise, deux Vautours percnoptères poursuivent pendant plusieurs minutes un Grand Corbeau ; ce dernier produit des sons particuliers, à deux puis trois tons, entre les coups d'ailes et les sifflements de glissement. La scène dure plus de 4 minutes, puis cet adulte rejoint un 2e, tandis que les Vautours se posent sur la falaise ; des sons gutturaux plus classiques se font entendre par les deux Corvidés. Spectacle magnifique.

On a cliff face, two Egyptian Vultures chase a Common Raven for several minutes; the latter produces particular sounds, with two then three tones, between wing strokes and gliding whistles. The scene lasts more than 4 minutes, then this adult joins a second one, while the Vultures land on the cliff; more classic guttural sounds are heard by the two Corvids. Magnificent spectacle.

I love the many different calls of ravens - this call is something that I hear less often and I am not sure when it is being used. Perhaps just for fun?

A raven chatting

One cannot imagine that this was once a rare bird in Sweden (because of persecution). Nowadays they are almost everywhere but still difficult to get a decent recording of. They are often wary of man. This unattended recording was from Kerstinbo, Uppland.
