Fun Facts:
Planet Earth features a lot of wholesome Electric Mistress whooshiness on the guitar.
This was another song for which George wrote some words, then asked a friend to write some different ones.
These lyrics were penned by Zaphod.
George and Zaphod would later record a version of this for a conservationist group called Habitats Under Threat.
There was a special wood near the Willow View caravan park on Straightway Head near Ottery St Mary where the Wud posse would go camping.
It was decided in a planning office somewhere that the busy A30 should be re-routed and run right through the wood.
Protest as the people might, the road was built anyway.
Much of the wood has now gone and is bisected by one of the busiest and noisiest roads in the uk.
Happily the clearing where camping took place still exists.
Planet Earth was performed by the band Wud as their set opener, but they only performed it on bigger stages.

Fun Facts:
At One is song #100 in the list of Songs by George songs.
It is suitably epic.
Some if it was written in a tent during a rainstorm.
This rainstorm lasted three days and was non-stop.
Leaving the island on which George, Marc and Richard had camped was wet and hazardous.
This song is about an experience with LSD.
At One was performed live many times by Rough Terrain.
Andy would do a funny Scottish dance during the change to 6/8 in the long instrumental section.
This moment became an integral part of the Rough Terrain set.
Other time signatures are 5/8 and 13/8, which the Boss DR55 couldn't handle.

Fun Facts:
Lullaby is an extraordinary and unique piece of music composed for electric guitar with a whammy bar.
George wrote this song on 11th November 1985, the fourth anniversary of the day when he first picked up a guitar and wondered how it worked.
The inspiration for this song was a foraging trip on the Blackdown Hills in devon, and what happened afterwards.
All of the music came quite rapidly and the whole piece was composed in a very short time.
There are some highly esoteric and unusually voiced chords in this.
Lullaby was never performed by a band.
Despite that, the song was very popular amongst George's friends after he had written it.

Fun Facts:
Walking Over That Same Old Stony Ground was a late addition to The Concept Album.
The Concept Album was originally conceived in the spring and summer of 1983.
Much of the music for that album was composed in 1983, although not many of the songs were actually finished at that time.
George's girlfriend at this time, who was a fan of his musical compositions but not his lyrics, said that this song was a "much needed level-up" in lyric writing.
There is a different Ug Brothers version of this song on their Live in Session 20.11.1986 album.
This recording features Marc Greatorex on bass and Graham Barbe on drums.
This is a recording of The Ug Brothers.
That band first formed and then disbanded around the end of 1986.
They reformed, with some success, in 1994.

Fun Facts:
Overture #113 was also a late addition to The Concept Album.

The talkover is performed by George's Dad, Peter.
The beginning was supposed to be the sound of someone walking along a busy promenade onto a beach and then starting to strum an acoustic guitar.
George attempted to record this at the Sidmouth International Folk Festival.
Unfortunately it was a bit busy and he collided with a couple of other festivalgoers, which put the guitar out of tune.
When he sat on a rock and played the first C-chord, it sounded hideous.
It was very funny, albeit not particularly successful.
The #113 comes from the song being the 113th song in George's chronological list.

Welcome to my first show on Éist Radio, Cork's finest digital radio station.
I'm chuffed to get going on 'Sacred Mechanics' - A title inspired by a Leonard Cohen quote in an interview with Jarvis Cocker about not analysing the creative process for fear of breaking the spell it has.
The show will be a monthly love letter to that sacred spell music can take us on. Each show will be split into two different hours. The first hour is a very open format and heavily themed. In the 2nd hour, I will get a bit more handy on the mixing and focus on electronic and dance-oriented tracks.
I will have a theme every month; though this being my first show, I've opted for a safe theme of tracks I've enjoyed that were released in the first half of this year.

Sacred Mechanics Ep 01: The Safe First Date Show 2025

Well, this unusual track started with the rhythm guitar part, and each time I added something it took another left turn into the cosmos (hence the title). I wrote the melody with a synth sound I wasn't planning on keeping until I added a vocal...and suddenly I felt Star Trek theme vibes. (Or maybe SC's own Admiral Krank and His Mighty Spacemen https://soundcloud.com/user-766619428). So I created the layers of vocal harmonies using EastWest Sound's "Voices of Soul" which features midi samples of C.C. White (you're definitely going to be hear more of her on future projects!).  I'm playing all of the guitars, bass, keys/synth, and I cut the drum loops. I hope you enjoy this comic trip into the unknown.

We support all independent musicians who are doing something we find interesting. Our team members all have formal music education qualifications.

We are against corporate brainwash muzak, their puppet friends in the mass media, and many other corporate activities. We will fight their desecration of music until either it stops or we die. 

We believe in helping others in the face of corrupt laws and a broken system. We are pro democracy, green energy and free speech.

We're politically liberal. We cannot support the republicans, maga or gun violence in the usa. We don't see there's any real difference, other than in name, between the christian far right in the USA and the taliban in Afghanistan.

In the uk we are broadly pro LibDem/Green/Labour/SNP. We are VERY anti-tory, bnp, ukip, and any of their friends and associates. We have no trust at all in the uk right wing press monopoly and the bbc. Beware the bbc and its claims of neutrality. It is the propaganda mouthpiece of the tory party. It even charges a propaganda tax called the licence fee. But we like Test Match Special and Radio 6, so does that make us hypocrites...? Hmm.

We support independence for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Cornwall. We support the individual and the underdog. We are anti-putin and his war, and pro-Ukraine.
