An evolving ambient music composition originally created for an interactive collaborative work with lighting designer, James Smith. The composition also featured at the Boston Brilliance projection and light art festival.

Commissioned by the e-Luminate Festival, Cambridge, with the support of the AHRC research project, ORDERED UNIVERSE, led by Prof. Giles Gasper (Durham University) and Dr Hannah Smithson (University of Oxford)

Exhibited at the e-Luminate Festival (Cambridge, UK), Berlin Festival of Lights (Germany), Night of Heritage Light (Oxford, UK)

To develop this project, we partnered with academics from IMEMS at Durham University, alongside leading physicists and astronomers from the Department of Computational Cosmology.  Using images and ideas of the workings of the physical and metaphysical cosmos, the artwork juxtaposes medieval theories with the latest science on the origins of the universe.
The sound features instrumental arrangements drawn on the visual elements associated with angels in early manuscripts from the medieval period and combines them with modern music production. It also includes a special music arrangement of the responsory, ’O vos angeli’ composed by the 12th century German abbess, Hildegard von Bingen and other chant arrangements.

The Kaleidoscope Visions panel presents this month’s “VIRGO MOON PHASES Pisces Lunar Eclipse” where mutable moons stir massive shifts.

“Get ready for a powerful new lunar cycle! It all kicks off with a new moon at the very start of Virgo. This journey will take us through a series of mutable signs, building towards a dramatic moment: a lunar eclipse at 15 degrees Pisces. This first of two eclipses beautifully highlights the dynamic tension between the broad, sweeping consciousness of Pisces and the careful, focused detail of Virgo. Eclipses are a time for redefining and starting fresh," explains founder and host, Sue Minahan. “This month is a chance for us to discover how we can serve our truth and nurture those around us. As we move through the Gemini 3rd quarter moon, we'll be thinking about how to fix what's broken before the final curtain call of this cycle: the solar eclipse at 29 degrees Virgo.” 

The moon's our personal planet regulating the past coming into the present. Weekly the moon systematic monthly cycle transitions from the New Moon to first quarter, Full Moon, and third quarter moon phases. Daily moving 12-13 degrees, the moon moves through a Zodiac sign in two & a half days.
