The original working title for this track was 'water handpan'
for obvious reasons...

We came up with the title 'Sargambau' in reference to the sargam scale (and various Indian/MiddleEastern influences), as well as the berimbau—an instrument from Brazil that Gabriel brought to the session.

Se existe um componente da cuíca de fundamental importância para a boa qualidade sonora do instrumento, esse certamente é o gambito. Essa postagem reúne uma sequência de vídeos a respeito das duas maneiras mais utilizadas para a fabricação desse item tão importante. Uma delas é feita a partir do bambu maciço, e a outra a partir do broto de bambu. 

O gambito de bambu maciço é feito com um pedaço do caule de um bambu adulto, o que muitas vezes implica na poda do bambu, como vemos o Indio da Cuíca fazendo no vídeo abaixo. Ele segue uma antiga crença de que o bambu deve ser podado durante a lua minguante. Essa condição cosmológica, além de demostrar que a fabricação do gambito pode envolver questões mais misteriosas do que se imagina, revela também a riqueza de saberes e práticas historicamente presentes no aspecto cultural da cuíca. Outro exemplo parecido é o costume que antigos cuiqueiros tinham de mergulhar o couro em uma água preparada com ervas antes de empachar a pele, provavelmente por influência de questões religiosas.

I’ve always had plants in my studio, and someone once told me that even if sunlight is limited, the constant presence of music playing every day helps keep the plants healthy.

I don’t know about that, , but they look great and seem to grow steadily.

“Record music to help a forest grow.”

I believe that simply having musicians play acoustic instruments in the forest would only bring good to it.

Here I just played “woody”, natural percussion instruments, bamboo drums, wood sticks and blocks, conch shells, cuica, marimba, bombo legüero, talking drum and some other toys. I recorded 3 versions, this is the “fast” one.

I heard this amazing record on Palms Trax' radio show and became immediately obsessed and then inspired. Here's my unoffical flip of 'Yemamaya' re-imagined for rooftop dance floors, lounges, surf shacks, and anywhere that serves ice cold bevvys and hot hot tracks. This chune pairs quite nicely with a caipirinha, açaí, and a pastel de queijo.  Big ups to Luizga & iZem for making such a beautfiul song.

Big Daddy was born and raised in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area during the mid 90's.  Growing up on the west coast helped Sean gain the exposure to the underground Bay Area funky house scene.  It also helped him cultivate a rich and diverse musical pallet with major influences including Fatboy Slim, DJ Dan, Carl Cox, and a host of guests at the the regular Funky Techno Tribe parties.  

He moved to Pittsburgh to pursue a career in healthcare IT but during the global pandemic of 2020 discovered his love for mixing and beat matching.  Its no wonder he's a tripped out psychedelic stoner.

His love for music started with the guitar, before shifting to music production using a digital audio workstation. Jazz and cinematic instrumental music are the two poles feeding his inspiration as a composer. Thus, virtual instruments are used to shape the soundscapes, sometimes still with a few live guitar touches. He acts as self-producer, mixing and mastering his own music. #soundtrack, #jazz, #classical, #neo-classical, #ambient

In some words:
Composer, arranger, producer, multi-instrumentalist. Born in Argentina,
I studied music in Buenos Aires, New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Paris.

For 20 years, I developed an important career as a session and backing musician in Argentina and Europe, playing, among other instruments, the bass, touring and recording with many jazz, rock, fusion, world, Latin and tango bands.

At the same time, I worked as an arranger, producer and musical director with many projects and artists in the USA, Argentina and Europe.

From 1992 to 1997, I performed my compositions live with my own band in Buenos Aires and began a solo recording career with the worldwide release of my first album "The Years Alone" on the North American label Green Linnet/Xenophile. On this album I arranged and performed 11 of my songs written between 1986 and 1993. I played most of the instruments, but included guest appearances by some great South American players.

My recording career continued with "Segundo Ciclo" (1997), released worldwide by Timeless Records, and 12 more albums released between 2000 and 2016.

Currently, I work as an on-demand film/TV composer while continuing to play live and produce.

Mediocre 20 year old musician, been producing for about 4 years :)
