Author's Statement: I decided to make this podcast about David Bowie's album Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars because not only is it one of my favorite Bowie albums it is one of the most influential albums not only because of its rule breaking dynamic but also because of the amazing story behind the album. It was a bit of a challenge finding time for the recording studio and figuring out how everything worked.

I was invited to be part of a little song club last year (2024) and it turned out to be a fantastic discipline for creating music in a focused time frame. Even if the final results were still technically demos (and they all were), they were many steps closer to finished than is often the case where there is a complete absence of deadlines and consequence if nothing is finished. Not that there is any consequence here either - but at least the idea that everyone submits a song by the end of the month creates a momentum and tension that is a healthy kick up the tooches :)

The 2025 song club is a subset of the 2024 group and is fundamentally a US based bunch of heavy hitters from the audio production industry. It’s certainly a great honour to have been invited to be part of this little cohort.

The song theme for June of this year was to employ the ‘cut-up’ technique that David Bowie famously used on many occasions. The technique was originally a literary device pioneered by William S Burroughs. John Lennon also used this method for the composition of the lyrics for “Being For The Benefit Of My Kite”.

The idea is to take words, phrases and lines that have been found in articles, books or signs, and to reconfigure them into something new. The results may be nonsensical, or else may suggest profound new insights.

For my response to the June challenge I decided to subvert the brief by reassembling lyrics from the songs that David Bowie himself had penned using the cut-up technique. As those words and phrases were never his, I saw no harm in recycling them again.

To do this I printed out the various Bowie songs and then read through them informally a few times while looking out for interesting lines. Once I had the opening line, "Don't tell God your plans", the rest pretty much wrote itself. Although it's fair to say it was like something completely blurry that pulled into focus every time I played it and added new lines from across the various lyric sheets.

The track was recorded in 3 or 4 days with about 90% of it sorted on Day 1.

The main instruments were my Fender Strat for rhythm guitar and my Fender Jazz bass for the low-end duties. The lead guitar was care of my Rickenbacker 325.

Like many, my journey started with big dreams as a child. I imagined myself as a musical genius, learning to play the recorder and later moving on to the violin and guitar. Back then, I had no idea how challenging the music industry could be. As life moved on, new adventures like jobs, holidays, and eventually starting a family took over, and my musical dream slowly faded into the background.

But the story didn’t end there. Over the past 40 years, technology has evolved in incredible ways, creating opportunities that were once unimaginable. Social media has reconnected us with old friends and memories, while AI and music software have revolutionised how we create and share music. The music industry, once an exclusive club, has had to adapt, leaving space for new voices to emerge.

This is where Logical Miracle was born, a collaboration between my love for music and the technical genius of my partner. For years, I wrote poems, not realising they were songs in waiting. Today, with the help of AI, music production software, and my tech-savvy partner, we’ve brought those words to life. The dream of working in a big studio isn’t necessary anymore; with the right tools and expertise, we’re able to create professional-quality music right from home.

Logical Miracle is the result of this collaboration. It’s not just a musical project, it’s a testament to the power of dreams and the possibilities that technology brings. What started as a simple idea has blossomed into something much bigger, a dream shared and fulfilled. Now, it’s time for our music to be heard.

Still shrouded in mystery, this band was completely unnoticed in the Latin music scene at the time... but!
Their unique sound, a mix of salsa and folklore, somehow gained high praise on other planets. And, amazingly, their cosmic tour was launched in 1977!!

International Dj, producer and remixer Jonathan Douglas Braverman, known as Ladies On Mars, has been on a musical journey since the conception of 2006 of his successful Minimal Techno music project. The artist born in Buenos Aires has accumulated numerous achievements, although it was his 2007 hit "We Are Not Lesvicon", published on Xela Digital, which really impelled Ladies On Mars to be in the eye of the storm, reaching within the TOP 40 of Beatport's Minimal. Another of his great achievements was in 2009 when he won the Beatport contest for remixing the song "Peace" by the group Depeche Mode, his remix became the best-selling band in Beatport for several years.

Since then, the native of Argentina has continued to evolve, mutating its sound, perfecting from the Minimal Techno of its beginnings to the Tech-House, current Funky House. Remixing artists like Aka Aka and Home Video. Editing his music on labels such as Prison Entertainment, Emi Music or his own label: Boom Zwapp Records.

In addition to having an impressive subsequent catalog of solo and collaborative productions, Ladies On Mars has also offered remixes for numerous top-level musicians, including: AKA AKA, Daniele Petronelli, Min & Mal, Home Video, etc ...

Outside of the studio, Jonathan is a touring DJ who is in great demand and his daily agenda is fuller. Taking their Marsian sound and a unique mix of spatial sounds with a lot of groove mixed with Funk, House and Tech-House directly to the dance floor in some of the best clubs, festivals and events in the world in countries, including: Germany, Spain, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina.
