“Joker: Folie à Deux” ist die Fortsetzung des Films “Joker” von 2019, erneut unter der Regie von Todd Phillips. Der Film wurde am 4. September 2024 bei den Internationalen Filmfestspielen von Venedig uraufgeführt und erhielt damals 11 Minuten Standing Ovations - doch beim Kinopublikum scheint er zu floppen. Nicht nru zeichnet sich ein Box Office Desaster ab, sondern auch die Bewertungen auf IMDB und Rotten Tomatoes sorgen für Stirnrunzeln. Doch ist der Film wirklich so schlecht, wie alle sagen? Thomas und Denis gehen dieser Frage auf den Grund - erst ohne, dann mit Spoilern. Teil 1 hingegen wird komplett gespoilert.

In dieser Fortsetzung kehrt Joaquin Phoenix in die Rolle des Arthur Fleck, alias Joker, zurück. Neu dabei ist Lady Gaga, die Harley Quinn spielt. Der Titel “Folie à Deux” bezieht sich auf eine seltene psychische Störung, bei der zwei Menschen eine geteilte Wahnvorstellung erleben. Dies passt perfekt zur komplexen und oft toxischen Beziehung zwischen Joker und Harley Quinn, die im Film im Mittelpunkt steht.

Der Film versprach, die düstere und intensive Atmosphäre des ersten Teils fortzusetzen, während er gleichzeitig neue musikalische Elemente einführt, da Lady Gaga nicht nur als Schauspielerin, sondern auch als Sängerin beteiligt ist. Dies könnte dem Film eine einzigartige Mischung aus Drama und Musical verleihen.

Die Handlung vertieft sich weiter in die Psyche von Arthur Fleck und zeigt, wie seine Beziehung zu Harley Quinn seine Welt noch weiter destabilisiert. Der Film ist sowohl visuell als auch emotional beeindruckend, mit starken schauspielerischen Leistungen und einer packenden Erzählweise, aber auch einem papierdünnen Plot und sehr, SEHR vielen Musikeinlagen. Das ist sicherlich nichts für jeden.

On episode 122 of Flickin’ It with Matt and Will we spend a night with Joker in what  is, so far, one of the worst movies of the year. Seriously. There are few things redeeming about this batshit crazy “musical”. Normally we like batshit crazy, but this is crazy in all the wrong ways. Peaks and valleys in tonal shifts and absolutely no semblance of a plot aside from the protracted trial of Arthur Fleck. Brendan Gleeson as the hard-ass-but-sometimes-kinda-cool security guard? Did not see that coming. We truly think that Todd Philips and Joaquin Phoenix just said FUCK IT ALL when making this movie. Would not recommend.

Venom: The Last Dance caps off what is easily the best property of the Sony Spider-Man universe, but that’s not saying much. Despite the wonderful banter and heartwarming relationship between Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and Venom, the haphazard and lazy storytelling of the entire trilogy has left much to be desired. This movie, however, does give us something that we didn’t know we needed, the Venom Avengers, and it was easily the coolest part of the movie. Only one Sony property left to go! But we’re sure Kraven will also suck.
