Devotion is the well established imprint from the now Spain-based artist Fernanda Martins, originally from Brazil. Its stunning catalogue spans back over a decade to 2015, and has featured music by A.Paul, Ken Ishii, PWCCA, Linear System, and Hemka for example.

Hailing from Santiago, Chile, Coolorblind is an emerging techno producer whose first EP arrived on Robert Hoff's renowned trau-ma label, and now makes his debut on Devotion titled 'A Thousand and One Reasons' with four original works.

For this DT:Premiere we selected title track "A Thousand and One Reasons" that is a melting pot of raw style and relentless groove that packs a punch. The alluring, stabbing synth rides above a warping and bending bassline for bursts of energy and plenty of analogue ear candy to create a wonderous atmosphere.

Rooted in the warmth of Nigerian spirit, it flows like Afrobeat itself: communal, resilient, healing through rhythm and voice. A raw Afro-Spoken fusion about presence, rhythm, and the quiet strength of care.

This track is part of my Virtues Series – inspired by Giuseppe Galli’s reflections on social virtues.
Each piece is created with a different artist, giving voice and sound to a human quality that connects us.

Care is not about fixing or solving —
it’s about listening past the noise,
leaning toward someone who was unseen.

I’m deeply grateful to share this virtue with Favmonie (@favour-elechi),
a young and courageous artist from Nigeria,
whose Afrobeat/Hip Hop energy brings warmth, tenderness, and lightness to the words.

This version is intentionally raw and unpolished —
recorded with limited tools, yet carrying the honesty of a first take.
The small imperfections are part of its truth —

When the Oud Wept draws from the saeta tradition, the solemn Andalusian song of devotion, reimagined here through the oud’s voice. Its phrases rise like a cry of prayer, hang suspended in silence, and return softer, as if each breath carries a memory of release.

Light percussion underlines the piece not to mark time, but to remind the listener of life’s pulse- the sound of breath, heartbeat, and quiet persistence. Levantine lyricism colors every turn of the melody, giving the lament warmth instead of despair.

This is not an imitation of any work; it is a moment of reflection inspired by the emotional lineage of Andalusian devotion. It is the sound of grief becoming grace, of silence transformed into meaning.

The sound leans bare and human—country roots in the soil, a little rock grain in the teeth, and a faith-lit lift that chooses hope without preaching.

These are ordinary-room hymns: rings hidden in cotton, receipt-tape strings, a dress behind rain glass, a sink that cools while you find the words. I’ve always lived at the crossroads of music and poetry — where feeling becomes form, and melody turns memory into meaning. Whether it’s a lingering jazz note, a well-placed rhyme, or a shift in tempo that tells a deeper story, I’m drawn to that quiet magic where art reflects life with a little more style.

My roots are in classic music — the kind that doesn’t chase the moment but lingers with you long after the last note. Over time, that love expanded into poetry writing and jazz — especially the kind that swings, speaks, and smirks all at once. Jazz, to me, isn’t just a genre; it’s a personality. A conversation. A little tilt of the head and a grin that knows more than it says.

When I set out to create an album, it’s rarely just a collection of songs. I approach it like a personal playlist — one that drifts and flows as if the entire tracklist were one long, uninterrupted piece. Each track leans into the next, shifting mood, pace, or voice, but always carrying the same thread of feeling. I want you to listen the way I do — not as a shuffle of moments, but as a cinematic arc. One breath that lasts an hour.

Lyrically, my work is rooted in lived experience. Sometimes it’s obvious. Other times it’s just the skeleton of a memory, dressed up in wit, irony, or longing. I draw from real-life events, then let the poet in me twist, stretch, or sweeten them to taste. Depending on the tone of the album — playful, romantic, nostalgic, or something in between — I try to keep the emotional truth intact while giving it a fresh coat of creativity. A little humor where it fits. A deeper dive where it hurts.

My newest jazz album continues this tradition — short-lined swing tracks, conversational duets, and tongue-in-cheek storytelling. It’s an homage to late-night alleyway ballads, rooftop serenades, and train station goodbyes — all bound together with a sense of charm and cohesion. Each song is its own little scene, but together they tell a story — one you can revisit with each replay.
