Our collective @DITKLINGTJUT hosted a summer takeover and showcase at Birgit in Berlin on 15 June 2024. It was a privilege to prepare and perform this two-hour open air set filled with some lost gems and new tracks across a range of organic, melodic, progressive, and house music. Be prepared to find your foot tapping or your body suddenly grooving!

Stephan created such a plethora of interesting and powerful sounds. I wanted to create a more minimal and slow version of the tune using a few of Stephan’s sounds as the base. Born and based in Berlin, Lueking brings many facets to his electronic compositions. His productions have found their home on labels such as Parquet Recordings, DEEP TALES, DIT KLINGT JUT, YION Berlin and Dear Deer Dubs. His enthusiastic attitude towards experimentation, coupled with an exceptional creative vision and sophisticated design, Lueking is always on the lookout for new challenges.

Who inspired you the most on your path as an artist?

There has never been one single defining artist for me. My inspirations have always come in phases: in the beginning it was mainly Extrawelt, later Oliver Huntemann, and then artists like Adana Twins, Dahu, Toto Chiavetta, Maceo Plex, and Baime. Today I draw a lot from the sound of Raxon, John Monkman, Shall Ocin, James Harcourt, and many others. It’s always been a mix of different artists who have shaped me.

What do you do to get into a creative state?

Creativity comes naturally to me — what gets in the way sometimes is lacking distance. If I leave a production for a few weeks, I return with fresh ears and see the track in a completely new light. Routine also helps a lot: going to the studio regularly, discovering new music, new artists, and new sounds keeps me constantly inspired. Having a clear mind is equally important — I work best when I’ve taken care of other tasks first, so I can fully focus once I’m in the studio. And if nothing flows, I take a deliberate break, because you can’t force creativity. I also never use substances or alcohol in the creative process — my best ideas always come with a clear head.

Favorite release at the moment & of all time?

Right now I’m into those two: Dubfire & Oliver Huntemann – Amor (Devoción Mix) and Maksim Dark – Stamper. If I had to choose an all-time favorite, it would be Trentemøller - Moan (Trentemøller Remix).

The art of music has touched the hearts of human beings around the planet for thousands of years. It's a universal language with the ability to express what can't be expressed through words or thought. It can induce strong emotions, alter our states of consciousness and let us experience reality in a different way. It can draw us into the present moment, where just the music exists - unfolding through time, moment by moment. When we let go and merge into the auditory sensations, it takes us on an inner journey. Using this not to escape, but to fully embrace reality as it is, music can help us release tensions and bring balance to our everyday life. 
Especially dance music allows us to unify with the flow of the music. When we express the energy it releases within us, by just giving ourselves to it and following the spontaneous and authentic movements of our bodies, we can experience a state of connection, peace and joy. Doing this collectively, synchronously moving to the same rhythm and sharing this special experience, we feel a connection that resonates within.

With DIT KLINGT JUT we want to express our love for music and manifest the meaning it can have for all of us. We do this by providing a thoughtfully curated space for artists and labels to share their music, organizing events & live-streams and serving as a platform to share ideas on music and the creative process.
