✨I'm really happy with how this song turned out! It came together almost magickally, when a melody I had written & a synth line I came up with that had both been sitting on the 'back burner' were brought together & got along real well...✨
It's a bit reminiscent of Depeche Mode, Grimes, George Clanton; some of my favorite electronic artists...

Diana Vaughan, duo composé par Nico Germina et Vincent Vey, convoque un imaginaire où mysticisme et spiritualité catholique s’entremêlent.

“Nous sommes encore si loin du jour”, premier EP de Diana Vaughan, laisse flotter une pop parfois lumineuse, souvent macabre. Une balade céleste de 23 minutes mélangeant des notes de synthétiseurs FM rappelant la dungeon synth des années 90, avec une interprétation acoustique, amplifiée et organique (flûte traversière, basse électrique, voix, …). Les mélodies y apparaissent comme des ritournelles, tantôt désaxées par des boîtes à rythmes boiteuses, tantôt dévorées par des nuages de reverb.

Oscillant entre ballade lancinante et déchaînements plaintifs et épiques, entre une harpe midi des plus lofi et un refrain à la flûte des plus catchy, 'L’Anathème' explore la partie la plus lumineuse de la musique de Diana Vaughan.

‘Nous sommes encore si loin du jour’, Diana Vaughan's debut EP, floats through a pop that is sometimes luminous, often macabre. The 23-minute celestial ballad mixes FM synthesiser notes reminiscent of 90s dungeon synth with an acoustic, amplified and organic interpretation (flute, electric bass, vocals, etc.). The melodies appear like ritornellos, sometimes off-axis with clunky drum machines, sometimes devoured by clouds of reverb.

Oscillating between haunting balladry and plaintive, epic outbursts, between the loftiest midi harp and the catchiest flute chorus, 'L'Anathème' explores the brightest side of Diana Vaughan's music.

I’m from Madison, Wisconsin. I like wandering around & throwing rocks in the lakes.

I’ve been playing music & experimenting with sounds since I was old enough for my dad to let me play around on his Casio SK-1. When I was 15, he taught me how to play guitar & music theory. I spent about 3 hours a day doing covers of my favorite songs, improvising my own, funny lyrics

A lot of melodies come to me in my dreams. As soon as I wake up, I sing them into my phone. I expand them into songs on my guitar, & then arrange them with synths & drum loops & whatever *sounds* right. Some songs are very forgiving; others make me their slave. I like integrating unexpected forms & sounds in my songs because it keeps things interesting, & mirrors the chaos of my own consciousness. My performances are hyperactive, glammed-out adventures for me & my audience, with DIY-pop drag show energy!

I’m especially inspired by Grimes, Princess Chelsea, George Clanton, Gorillaz & the fashion designer Raf Simons

I’ve performed at Memorial Union Terrace, Mickey’s, The Art In, The Willy St. Faire, Brocach Irish Pub, High Noon Saloon, Illumination Live in New York City, as well as busking on State St. in Madison, playing my music & doing tarot readings
