"Move To The Funky Beat" is a hybrid EDM track mixing elements of tech house and electro house. It is based off the 2010s era of progressive and electro house, while also mixing in some acid tech elements, taking cues from the Nicky Romero and Porter Robinson era of electro house. This track is very bass heavy and hard-hitting in nature. 

Like "Transcendence," this is based on the same "How To Make Tech House Like The Pro's" tutorial John Summit posted on his YouTube channel a few years ago. I borrowed the acid synth preset and wrote the notes to my liking and style while still maintaining the "funky" nature of John's original acid line.

This track was composed, written, and produced in Ableton Live 12 Suite. Mixing and mastering were done in Logic Pro.

What I enjoy most is creating tracks you simply can’t sit or stand still to — music that makes you want to move and fills you with warm, sunny energy. “Funky Groove. Real Move” turned out exactly like that. I’d be happy if it makes you want to turn up the volume and start dancing.

About this track:
A high-energy house flip built on a disco-style walking bassline, live guitar accents, and light 303 work. The vocal is a bootleg remix of a cover of “No Diggity” (verses + chorus only). Straightforward by design—danceable, bright, and geared for DJs. An instrumental version with a moody synth lead is included for anyone who wants a playable release version.

Vocal removed; the hook is carried by a moody lead (layered Juno-style + Nexus patch) over the walking bassline and 303. Clean, club-ready play.

Not Diggity (Instrumental)

I don't really write tracks with a rigid "genre" in mind, but the closest thing I could think of for this track is melodic techno. The song is called "Ph Balance" because it combines cues and elements from a ton of different styles, including but not limited to: acid house, acid techno, tech house, trance, techno, tech trance, and many more. The song was also time-intensive to compose, as this track was made using a lot of sampling > resampling > microedits, etc. Logic Pro has had the ability to bounce grouped tracks in place into one file, while Ableton Live recently acquired this feature with the 12.3 update. This makes the whole sampling-to-resampling process easier, but microedits are a huge pain. Kudos to those who regularly compose dubstep, which is built on the entire premise of sampling > resampling > micro-edits, cause it's a PAIN.

This is a 3-way mix of tech house, acid techno, and electro house (with perhaps some 'dirty dutch' sprinkled in). The song's melody is pretty static; micro edits, automations, filter sweeps, and various other elements drive the groove and progression rather than a notable chord progression. This song is built around a heavily sampled and edited bass line that is rather aggressive and side-chained to the kick. I lost track of how many times the bass was resampled after each edit. The final touch was some subtle pitch bends (this can make or break your bass lines, especially when they are very low on the tonal spectrum). 

Now, I must note that this track is nowhere near perfect or refined; the sidechaining is a bit too aggressive, creating a brief 'pop' on the bass. Why did I leave it in? To my surprise, the track sounded very bland and considerably worse without this imperfection. What seems like a minor detail had a DRAMATIC impact on the quality of the track. It went from a cool banger to a "bland repetitive loop." This track was built upon various subtle edits that all add up in the end. Perhaps due to the aggressive nature of the track, the "pop" kinda suits it. I had a close friend who is a career producer listen in on the track; he heard the same thing I did (this is why feedback is SO important) and agreed with the assessment. 

The bass also has a brief "pause" after each bar; I noticed that this lets the track "breathe" and keeps you focused in an otherwise repetitive techno track. It also helps the bass stay aggressive without overwhelming the rest of the track.
