Ok Tonight’s Selection… I’ve definitely got some sweet classic trance tracks I’ve picked out for you this week. Quite a lot of my old vinyl in this set…
Makes the mix a lot more interesting… How these tracks mix into each other… Can be some fun and I hope you’ll enjoy how it turns out.

It’s called “Only In A Dream feat. Tricia McTeague”.

That was Sander Van Doorn’s progressive tech trance track called “Ninety”.

This tune is from another favourite artist of mine Kai Tracid
With this “Energy mix of Conscious”.

That was Touchstone by Solarstone…	the Aly & Fila Remix of Touchstone
Before that was Kyau vs Albert with “Walk Down”.

This next ones from Mikka Leinonen, called "Mirabel".

This was remixed by an Aussie artist Mike Nichol, and it’s called “Subdued”.

Heres a very big sound I grew up with as a kid
It’s the Protoculture remix of John00Fleming & The Digital Blondes take of the popular "Oxygene".

That was an old 90 Club Trance tune that was a big one over here
Spacebaby’s “Free Your Mind”.

In the early 2000s, the first vinyl I bought was hard trance. I was immersed in Sydney’s underground raves, later transitioning to the club scene—Friday nights at Sublime on Pitt Street, Home in Darling Harbour, and Plastic at the Palladium in Kings Cross. My passion for the hard dance scene spanned the late '90s to mid-2000s.

I played sets at Thursday Delights at Icebox in Kings Cross, Sydney. This demo earned me my first slot there: 3–4 AM on a Thursday night. The place was packed, and the energy was incredible!

I was heavily influenced by hard trance coming out of Germany - Dj Scot Project on Overdose and Pulse Records, Kai Tracid, Tracid Traxxx and Cosmic Gate. Swiss DJ Spoke and Progressive State Records. From Japan, Yoji Biomehanika. UK labels Hell House Records, Rising High Records, Tidy Trax, Nukleuz and DJ Jon Doe on Honey Pot Records. As well as Mauro Picotto and BXR out of Italy.

Recorded and mixed in 2002 on Technics 1200 Mk2.

This mix is a superb representation of golden era trance and hard trance, plus early snippets of hardstyle at the very end, with early Fusion and Scantraxx. Tracks from the 2001-2002 era. Full of some of my favorites over the years. I think 'Fast Forward... (To Madness) is my absolute go to tune. I remember seeing Jason Midro play this remix at Bass Station a few times. Still ingrained in my soul.

Hard Trance Classics 2002, Episode #01 mixed by Matt DJ

I'm back in Edinburgh this weekend to celebrate my dear friends Andy & Lizzie's 25th anniversary, and to celebrate I've put together this mix to look back at Rampage, the Edinburgh club might where I first met them. Rampage was a great if not spectacularly successful club night that I co-promoted in the early 2000's with my flatmate Rob Dinsdale and the dj Phil Zero, with Aberdeen's DJ Skelp as the other resident dj alongside Phil and I. We met Andy and Lizzie at the very first party, when they joined us at our Dalkeith Road flat for the afterparty ... many years later, that friendship is still strong! 

With this mix, I wanted to capture some of the energy of that era and the ethos of Rampage, taking in everything from funky techno to acid techno to European hard trance to UK hard / acid trance to full-fledged freeform hardcore. It's a journey!

Held fulltime nightclub residencies from 1998-2010, at ClubNRG, HeavenDC & Studio146 in Albany. DJ local support for various International Live performers & DJ's at those clubs.

In years 2002-2005, my mates & I would DJ private b’days held around Denmark, Western Australia's southern coastal areas. These raves became well known to many who lived in this region, as some of the best rave parties around at the time.

I was asked to DJ local support at both 2004 & 2005 MOS HardNRG Tours, Perth (Monkey Bar).

In 2010 I retired from the club scene, after some realization that the majority of punters, were young enough to be my kids 😂 Making the decision was surprisingly quick & easy, after hearing that a couple of young ladies who were wanting to make a request, when one of them said “don’t ask him, he's that old guy who only plays old records".🙄

In 2023, going through some difficult challenges with my own mental health, I decided that one great form of therapy would be to rebuild my old home DJ rig into a full studio. After receiving inspiration from UK Producer/DJ, 'Kydus', I decided to mix Kydus a mix of all my favourite tunes of hes and send it to him. Thats the mix upload here on SoundCloud "Kydus - Tribute Session One" that had been re-igniting my passion to not only mix, but also start producing my own sounds.  I also then found 4BeatRadio in Liverpool, after seeing a shared post from Kydus, calling out DJ's to send in mixes to 4BeatRadio. So I sent a little classic trance mix we always played in the family car, just something I mixed up on my using CrossDJPro app on mobile in the car. 4BeatRadio asked me if I would keep on sending them in weekly sets. Thats when the STC series started & I put my studio to work. STC is my own blend of the favourite classic trance music I had mixed in over 20+ years. I also started live DJ streams on twitchtv, getting my head around all that craziness, but not without help from many of the fellow UK DJ's & Producers I've come to meet in that time. I spend a lot of time on my DAW, making my own styles of organic tech & house.

My Set-up: 2x SL1210Mk2's - 2x CDJ400's - Traktor S8 Kontrol - Denon PMA700 Amp - Custom built 2-way monitors & 8"powered Sub.

I am a hobby producer, living close to Stuttgart, Germany. I started producing electronic music at the age of 15, so I have been doing this for more than half my life now. 
Electronic music production helps me find balance amid the stresses of my job as an IT engineer, but - so far - I never went professional with it.
