Held on Aberdeen's Beach Links, Cultivate is the leading dance and electronic music festival in the North of Scotland.

Okay, okay. Quick history backstory.  Drums as a child, and through his 20's.  Turntables, and loads of vinyl before entering the digital realm.  Nick has been busy with all that noise for two and half decades.  Growing up on rock, grunge, 90's electronic, hip hop, and everything in between rounded out his senses for music, and what appealed to him.  A taste ever evolving leaving him playing house, techno, minimal, acid, downtempo, and breakbeat.  Now with over 20 years of experience you can expect great track selection, crowd reading, and flawless mixing.  This journey has seen him play in cities through Western Canada, and with larger acts from abroad including the likes of Mark Farina, Tipper, Kevin Yost, James Teej, Pezzner, Dirt Crew, Detroit Swindle, Noah Pred, Rob Paine, and many more.  

After spending many years as a key part of Left Coast Crew in Victoria BC as a DJ/Promoter, he is back In Saskatchewan where he started this journey. The new vision is to rekindle his old connections and push his promotion brand The Motive To Move (TM2) to new heights, and entertain as many party people as possible.

Starting his first weekly DJ residency as well as a live mixed radio show in 2001 at WNUR 89.3FM, he has played at several hundred gigs in Chicago, around the midwest as well as in Detroit, Miami (WMC), San Francisco (Spundae, Loveparade) and internationally as well including Sydney & Melbourne/AUS, Tokyo/JP, London/UK, Mexico, Canada, Bulgaria, Serbia and elsewhere. He has booked, promoted and organized major events and has opened for many pioneering and influential artists including Juan Atkins, Ritchie Hawtin, Chris Liebing, Satoshi Tomiie, John Digweed, James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), Richard Fearless (Death in Vegas), Claude Young, Derrick Carter, Diplo, John Tejada, Phil K, Steve Lawler, Sandra Collins, Paul Oakenfold, The Crystal Method, Way Out West, BT, Paul Oakenfold & others..
Re-locating from downtown Chicago to Los Angeles in early 2013, James enjoys the chance to share his love for real house music, detroit inspired house-techno, acid house, electro, ambient, dub and other properly heady dance music. His dedication to the rich musical roots of Chicago, Detroit, Berlin can be heard (and felt) in his dynamic vinyl DJ sets as well as live performance.

His passion for the music is also extended through to his his ongoing studio efforts and DIY analog-style productions, remixes and collaborations..
