Running Ubuntu 16.04, the WiFi adapter (a Dlink dwa-182 ac1200) is usually plug and play on Windows 10 (though it also has drivers) but since I switched to Ubuntu, it is not responding and I can't seem to be able to install the drivers.


Interesting thing's that, both of my dlink wifi adapters, when I plug them in and run lususb command, they are both recognized but they are not listed in setting as wifi adapters and not shown on the taskbar

Once you download your new driver, then you need to install it. To install a driver in Windows, you will need to use a built-in utility called Device Manager. It allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them.

Hello all, I had experimented with the DIR-865L quite a while ago. According to this tutorial, -silva.org/getting-openwrt-dlink-dir-865l-ac1750-router. After that I tore the router down to the bare board. Hooked up my UART cables and realised I didn't need to do that. As there is a Broadcom web recovery console. I uploaded the OpenWRT file, and it booted. Although it was Barrier Breaker (2014). Through Luci, I was able to set up an AP on the 2.4GHz band but was unable to get the 5GHz band up. Since I realised it was a generic image that was used, I tried to use a newer image, but no WiFi interfaces showed. So I used my tool chain to build a version of the image with Luci, and the Broadcom Wi-Fi driver. Somehow, the 2.4GHz interface was even weaker with the newer version. Anyway it has been a while, and I want to make this into an actual OpenWRT supported device with full functionality, with fully documented device page. How can I do it?


The thing that gave me hope is that using one of the reverse-engineered drivers, at least a 2.4GHz interface is accessible, so I would think the other interface is possible to get up, the 5GHz is a mini-pcie too?


Now the host only sees the realtek interface (from the esxi grey and yellow host interface ) , but on the vSphere gui I see them both in here: and only the realtek nic here , which is confusing to me, how was I able to see the dlink one in one place and not the other?


The additional WiFi drivers (not included in Pi Kernel) are fetched thanks to the work of Mr Engman, which compiles and hosts them (he is the creator of install-wifi script).
Unfortunately, it seems that the latest kernels have not received his attention and the drivers are not compiled.
