Lonely walks

In dieser Folge steht die Adipositas als komplexe chronische Erkrankung im Fokus. Unser Gast Professor Dr. Thomas Forst räumt mit Mythen auf, ordnet aktuelle Studien ein und diskutiert die Grenzen traditioneller Parameter wie dem Body-Mass-Index. Im Gespräch geht es um die pathophysiologische Rolle von viszeralem und ektopem Fettgewebe, die Bedeutung des metabolischen Syndroms und die Notwendigkeit differenzierterer Diagnosekriterien. 

Zudem beleuchtet Prof. Dr. Forst die Entwicklung des DMP Adipositas, dessen mögliche Weiterentwicklung und welche weiteren gesundheitspolitischen Herausforderungen bestehen. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt des Gesprächs liegt auf den neuen pharmakologischen Optionen und deren Einsatz-Zeitpunkt, insbesondere bezogen auf GLP1-Rezeptoragonisten und duale Inkretin-Therapien, deren Stellenwert er im Vergleich zu Lebensstilintervention und bariatrischer Chirurgie einordnet.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Forst ist Internist, Endokrinologe und langjähriger Forscher, vor allem auf dem Gebieten Diabetes und Adipositas. Er ist zudem Chief Medical Officer bei „Clinical Research Services“, einem der führenden klinischen Forschungsinstitute Europas. Er lehrt an der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz und ist erster Vorsitzender der AG „Diabetes & Herz“ der DDG.
