Make the edges straight: After you glue the box together, use a chisel to make the edges of the cut at the back straight. It’s easier to do this after gluing because you can see where to stop cutting.
Back frame and panel Check the size of the cut at the back of the box you finished and make the wooden pieces for the back frame the right size. Use the saw table to cut the joints in the frame parts and make a slot for the panel to fit into.

You can choose what the panel looks like and what it’s made of, but remember to consider how wood changes size with humidity. The panel can be the same as the box to blend in, or it can be different to match the door panels.

Make the back panel fit right by shaving it down with a hand plane until it fits tightly in the cut without forcing it. Start with two sides that are next to each other, then do the longer side and lastly the shorter side. At the router table, make the panel stand out.
