The idea behind this release was to showcase my progression as a music producer. 'Surface Level' is all about the break — I spent several hours re-arranging and editing it, finding what I feel is a good balance between detailed edits and maintaining a smooth, listenable flow.

'Air Traffic' represents my own take on a modernised intelligent drum & bass track. It retains the classic sound I love, while adding an extra edge to the production.

Omni Music presents Alek W with his 2nd EP of Jazz-fused drum and Bass. This new chapter starts with the half-time funk driven Above the Stars where Trumpet, bass and rhodes delicately weave together to create a chilled intro before Definition of Step kicks things into full throttle with explosive breaks, driving bass and more ethereal touches of jazz. The ethereal jazz theme continues with Everywhere I go I'm Haunted By Jazz whose serene intro soon gives way to drumfunk rhythms as saxophone and chords conjure up smokey laid back late night jazz clubs. This excellent new EP finishes with Futurize a rolling rhythmic onslaught of bass, jazz-laden keys and delicate pads. We can't wait for Alek W's next Chapter.

This episode we dove into the depths of techstep, jungle & drumfunk with two Amsterdam based veteran DJ & producers, Splinter and Phuture-T!

Splinter’s been producing since the ’90s across styles from techstep and neuro to drumfunk, amenism, and intelligent jungle. After moving to the UK in 2015, he dropped tunes on labels like Ballpark Recordings, Hangry Records, Metius Music, and Danger Chamber. Now back in the Netherlands, he’s deep in the studio, lining up fresh EPs to keep spreading the drum and bass vibe.

Phuture-T began DJing in 2002 and he’s also made serious moves as a producer, with releases on labels like AKO Beatz, Alphacut, Inperspective Records, Omni Music, DSCI4, and the label he co-owns: Eastern Promise Audio. He hosts the Eastern Promise Audio Show on Jungletrain and continues to shape the label’s deep and forward-thinking sound.

“Silken Palm” drifts through ancient temples and neon jungles, a fusion of Chinese pipa strings, rolling jungle breaks, and deep sub-bass meditation.
Each pluck and snare feels like a disciplined strike; every echo a ripple of calm power. The rhythm flows like silk through water, equal parts grace and danger, the sound of kung fu elegance reborn through bass.

Shaggy aka Shailet Patel; born and bred in Leicester, grown up listening to drum and bass from the heydays of early acid house.
