1985 is a peculiar year for dance music. We are beyond the peak of new-pop and synth-pop. House wasn’t yet on the horizon and Freestyle only just started. A lot of the dance hits of the year were dance remixes of pop songs. You had some synth funk from the US and Italo disco. 

This week’s mix captures the essence of that era, featuring a mix of dance and Europop tracks, and finishing with some standout examples of Italo disco.

I never want to be famous in any capacity, that sort of life is unattractive. The only benefit it'd have is money. I'm just a lover of music and amateur composer posting things he's made in Musescore, just for the sake of sharing things. Max is in the North West of Oregon... It's getting cold and spooky out there. First demoed out in 2012, first writing "I have this knife" made friends and showed them his song acoustically. Friend Kayla Sega joined in 2013. IN 2017 She passed away suddenly. After a spell of depression Max left college. In 2019 he came back and sequentially graduated with a degree in Film Making and in his porftolio class made a music video for "My name is Max" 

Inspired by Marilyn Manson, the Spooky Kids, the Murderdolls and many other bands he met on their tours up into PNW.. Bands like Justin Symbol/God Bombs, and Angel Nightmare... and Our Frankenstein, a few to name. Max went from Spooky Max to a new name in 2022 "Maxy D" Maximus a few to name... but nothing worked... Mad Max is a great one. Also good for reclaiming as it was a horrible nick name for him in Grade school. This band or project is a sonic therapy and sonic revenge on all those old bullies. Enjoy the tunes !

Alex Thode (he/him/they) would first and foremost like you to know that not only is the “e” at the end of his last name not silent, but that he is also a composer and arranger most known for his work in the pageantry arts. He resides in Waukesha, Wisconsin with his cat, Buzz. An alumnus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Alex composes and arranges for marching bands across the continental United States. Always aiming to infuse contemporary music with the classics and the mainstream with the obscure, his marching band arrangements are known to stand out for their eclectic musical diversity and creative sonic environments.

Alex's clientele have been Bands of America (BOA) Regional Finalists and Class Champions, BOA Super Regional Class Champions, UIL Area Champions and State Finalists, WGI Winds Class Champions, and also make regular appearances at BOA Grand Nationals. He has also had the privilege of having his arrangements performed in the 2016 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the 2020 Tournament of Roses Bandfest.

Along with his compositions and arrangements for the pageantry arts, Alex also has been commissioned to write middle school and high school concert band works, and enjoys composing chamber percussion music. Alex recently completed his new piece for 8-piece percussion ensemble, “the carving of canyons,” which premiered in January 2022.

In his free time, Alex enjoys watching movies and believing he’s a professional film critic, hiking and pretending that he’s athletic, traveling and acting like he’s Marco Polo, playing piano, guitar and a variety of kalimbas, and being with good company.
