Artists like Jalen Ngonda come around once in a lifetime, so it is our privilege and distinct pleasure to announce the release of his debut album Come Around and Love Me. Anyone who has had the pleasure of seeing Jalen perform live knows that he is one of the most captivating performers on today's soul scene. His voice, equal parts raw feeling and elegance, exudes confidence and charm—disarming packed rooms of rowdy concert goers, leaving them silent as they hold fast to every syllable sung. Plans for the album were struck just months before the COVID 19 pandemic shut the world down. Notwithstanding, Jalen eventually made it to Hive Mind Studios in Brooklyn, NY where he began writing and recording with the help of producer/arrangers Mike Buckley and Vincent Chiarito (both members of Charles Bradley's Extraordinaires) and a crack team of a-list musicians from the Daptone family. The team skillfully blends heavy arrangements and introspective lyrics with motown sophistication, leaving the listener in a blissful wash of wonderment. 

Jalen has been writing songs since he was 14, and his compositions are also very much of these times. He explains,  “I love music from the 20th century— I listen to it all the time, but I’m in this world and the 21st century. ...to a stranger, I’d describe my music as modern soul and R&B, while trying to fit in the Beach Boys and the Beatles somewhere in between.”  Come Around and Love Me reveals how he creates a classic approach that is rooted in the sounds of revered pioneers, without falling into imitation–leaving no doubt that Jalen will continue to shine within the superlative, timeless musical tradition that is Daptone’s hallmark. Recorded at Hive Mind Studios in Brooklyn, Jalen wrote and recorded his debut album with the help of producers/arrangers Mike Buckley and Vincent Chiarito (both members of Charles Bradley's Extraordinaires). Jalen's approach to music, and his debut, centers on his deep reverence of the Motown records he grew up with and his appreciation for the timeless soul music of the 20th century, while recognizing that he's able to bring a distinctly 21st-century point of view to those sounds. Come Around And Love Me distills those two timelines into a stunning debut record of modern soul and R&B from one of the powerhouse new voices in the genre.

Caracoles ushers Orquesta Akokán’s unique brand of mambo into the 21st century. Back at the helm are producer and multi instrumentalist, Jacob Plasse and virtuosic pianist, composer and arranger Michael Eckroth - a collaboration that continues to lead Orquesta’s exploration of the sublime mambo in all its depth and breadth. On this, their third album, they combine talents with Cuban lyricist, singer and composer Kiko Ruiz,  a tata —priest— who informs his lyrics with a  Palo Mayombe spirituality propelling the mambo back to its original meaning.

Libre, Rock et Kulturel, le son sans concession de Radio Bellevue a formé, inspiré et accompagné toute une génération d'aficionados de la musique et de la culture en général, celle des années 80. Au moment où la mémoire de ces années bouillonnantes et créatives refait surface et interpelle également les nouvelles générations, la bande-son de Radio Bellevue Web ne saurait donc, ni renier ses racines, ni ignorer les artistes émergeants et les courants musicaux contemporains.

RBW kultur : la culture s'écrit, la culture s'écoute.

Une radio Web, Rock et Kultur cela coule de source. Les deux mots sont associés puisque le rock c'est de la kultur et puisque la kultur innovatrice et qui produit du sens a toujours été rock'n roll, de même que ses acteurs. C'est d'ailleurs l'association des deux qui a permis à la Radio Bellevue des années 80 de s'imposer et finalement de durer, persistant dans la mémoire de ceux qui l'ont écoutée. Y rajouter un W n'est en quelque sorte qu'une formalité même si elle induit d'autres modes et méthodes de travail.

Born and raised in Philadelphia and New York, then relocated to Southern California during my teenage years, I built a love for both east coast and west coast hip hop while also diving into the late 90s ska scene. Wahine–an award-winning radio show host, music blogger, interviewer, and event producer–has worn many hats since returning to the decks after a 10-year hiatus. Her comeback began with winning the Defected Croatia Mix Contest in 2019, making her international debut at the festival and reigniting her DJ career.

Her appearance at the Defected festival alongside house legends and luminaries propelled her into the spotlight of the international disco and house scene, leading to her current status as a globally celebrated talent. 

She co-hosts Spin City on MyHouseRadio.fm and is a Passion Ibiza Radio resident. She has contributed guest mixes to various platforms including NTS, Mi-House, Sinestesia Ibiza, and Disco Deviance.

Her mashups have charted on Hypeddit, gaining support from radio shows worldwide. She hosts events in Atlanta, including her signature event, Wahine’s Hideaway, featuring international guests like Dicky Trisco, The Silver Rider and The Funk District.

Wahine has supported renowned artists Crazy P, DJ Sneak, Lego, Moodena, Richard Earnshaw, Hotmood, Dicky Trisco, and DJ Disciple at events in Los Angeles, Atlanta, London, and Amsterdam. Her radio show has featured guests such as The Reflex, Aroop Roy, and The Patchouli Brothers.

Described as “Disco in Paradise,” her sound is sundrenched and full of global influences. Funky licks are spiced with percussive jams. Equal parts brains and brawn with every beat telling a story of rhythm and roots.

Trained in a dozen world dance forms, Wahine is known to spend her last track on the dancefloor in communion with her fellow dancers.
