“Warm Leatherette” has fascinated me for years. Originally released in 1978 by The Normal, it was a groundbreaking piece of electronic minimalism with a punk edge, laying the foundation for its transformation by Grace Jones in 1980. Her cover on the album "Warm Leatherette" reimagined the track with her unmistakable style, turning it into a classic. Over the years, the song has seen various interpretations, including a 1995 dance version by Peter Rauhofer and a subsequent remix by Danny Tenaglia. In my version, I aimed to reconnect with the song’s depth and raw energy, bringing it back to its core essence.

When I decided to include "Warm Leatherette" on my album "The Afterlife," I knew I had to create something distinct. I started by revisiting the original's core beat—a sort of heartbeat that is slightly off rhythm—and placed it at the centre of my version. This approach allowed me to craft a sound that is neither purely disco nor a replica of any previous versions. Instead, I aimed to capture the song's dark, driving momentum and translate its narrative of a car crash into a visceral musical experience. By experimenting with deeper vocal registers and adding a more melodic touch, I sought to complement the intense energy of the instrumentation, creating a version that is both familiar and refreshingly new. This process was not just about reimagining a classic, but about exploring my own artistic growth and the boundaries of musical expression .

01 METAL LIQUID SET

I recently found this DJ set on my hard drive, which I recorded live at the Moog on a Saturday in January 2019, during the warm-up time before a guest DJ that night I can't remember. After so many years, I didn't remember this set existed, and after the first listen, I was surprised by how unhurried but steady the sets were before the pandemic. Without high BPMs, but with sonic intensity, and where there was still music before the dictatorship of the hard bass drum.
With this session, I'm starting a series of four themed sets to celebrate my 20 years as a DJ. This would be a typical live set. Stay tuned!

Uroz is one of the main resident dj since 2012 of Barcelona's landmark Moog Club. Spinning around since 2005 he is a reknowed personality in the underground by his long dj sets because each record in his hands is mixable. Versatility is power!

Internet & Weed was formed to explore & release a wide range of Stoner 808, Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Booty, & various Club music styles. The artists on the label span a diverse array of genres, all brought together by what we like to call “Womb Music”. Whether for the dancefloor, the whip, or your headphones, Internet & Weed promises to bring the listener a sound that isnt available anywhere else.

Controlla is a platform on which national and international artists, primarily musicians and audio-visual performers, present their craft. A running current is found in it’s concern for esoteric innovation and execution, as well as the history and traceable evolution of the rhythm and sound oriented arts.

As the son of a professional flamenco singer, Thomas has always been surrounded by music.  Exposure to flamenco influenced him because it has a dynamic range of emotions—from the "deep singing" style of cante hondo, to the more lively alegrias.  He has also worked in the corporate, independent, and online music industry for a number of years.  At one point he was a Content Manager for the Electronic Music genre at MP3.com, where he screened over 500 songs per day.  Exposure to a wide range of music explains the range of genres in his mixes—he uses whatever carries the mood.  From listening to Umm Kulthum's "Enta Omri" in his childhood, to New Wave and  Industrial as a teen, it became difficult for him to stick to one sound. Though vinyl was his original format of choice when he started in the 90s, the use of digital mixing has helped him better form soundscapes to expand your headspace.  Let him play with your moods for a spell.
