As summer kicks into high gear across the When We Dip imprints, we are thrilled to welcome back one of our hometown's most invigorating artists - Montreal's own Sinca. We revisit a pair of her original productions from the Dede EP with a trio of deftly-crafted dance-floor remixes.

With plaudits-a-plenty already on hand from an amazing single with Anjunadeep and TRYBESof, Sinca has been rocking dance-floors around the globe all winter long. She now returns to XYZ with a set of remixes that are sure to soundtrack the summer to come.

Sinca connects with Montreal-based vocalist Toorak Green on the indie-house burner Another Way, and Canada's Hauy steps up to bat with a riveting remix on the A-side. Floaty drums and crisp melodics elevate emotions on the XYZ debut from Hauy.

New York's finest David Orin is back on XYZ with his remix of Sinca's Dede. One of the most consistent producers on the globe, David brings house flavors to the fold, keeping the groove galavanting from start to finish.

Captivation (July 2023)

Arriving a little late this season is a melodic organic house mix that I typically do each year to welcome the warmer weather in Nova Scotia. This is a 2.5 hour journey through some of my favourite organic house tunes at the moment. Uplifting, fun and soulful these tunes always make me think of the summer here in Nova Scotia and I hope they bring the listener great enjoyment as well.

Artist Background

Hungarian-born, Switzerland-based DJ, producer, and vinyl enthusiast. Grown up in the “rave”-era he had his first encounter with electronic music in the early 90’s. Productions from John Digweed, Danny Howells, Lee Burridge and Danny Tenaglia had decisive role in his music.

Being a resident DJ on the Hungarian scene for nearly two decades he played in highly renowned clubs of Budapest such as Pacha Budapest, Home Club, Dokk, as well as abroad: Hive (Switzerland), Smolna (Poland), Arcan (Vietnam) among several others.

Executor of the famous Electronic Groove Podcast (EG. 126 and EG Spotlight 139), founder of Audio Bliss – a series of club events, podcasts and radio shows, and the ECOnnect Festival - an electronic music festival and visual arts gathering in Hungary promoting environmental protection.

His DJ sets are unique and distinguishable due to his carefully selected tunes, and harmonic, elegant and selfless mixing style. The result is smooth transitions and constant dynamism during his sessions. His productions and DJ sets are characteristic for throbbing grooves, finely crafted structures, and rather unusual instrumentation. Hidden details revealed through hypnotic synths and various melodic elements. Forward-thinking house with a touch of techno’s extravagance.

Former fixture of the east coast electronic music scene for nearly two decades, Sean has earned the respect of electronic music lovers, DJs and promoters all over with his intelligent & smooth blend of melodic and mesmeric deep house and techno.

During his active DJ career Sean was a true technical perfectionist combining outstanding programming skills with flawless execution, which earned him a reputation as one of the most consistent performers in the scene. His professional approach provided him with many opportunities throughout the years having opened for such highly acclaimed artists as Armin Van Buuren, Deep Dish, Danny Howells, Luke Fair, Sultan, and Steve Porter to name just a few. Sean was also lucky enough to have had an impromptu tag session with Sasha in 2003, which remains one of Halifax's most enduring electronic music memories.

More recently in 2011 Sean provided the winning mix in John Digweed's "Structures Two" international mix contest and was featured on Digweed's highly acclaimed radio show "Transitions", something that even the most seasoned pro DJ aspires to.

While Sean no longer performs regularly you can still catch new editions of his long running mix series "Chilling Moments" which has been going strong in one format or another since 2003.
