Porcupine Tree - Shallow Guitar Cover

This is the first song on which I have used a recording of myself playing the guitar. It turned out pretty good in my opinion. I have used an EBow ‘look-alike’ called the Joyo JGE-01 Infinite Sustainer. Since the release of the Blackwater Park album by Opeth (and on several songs on the Deadwing album of Porcupine Tree) I was captivated by a particular sound that I could not quite identify. After a few years I ‘discovered’ that it was an EBow that was used on the guitar. Since then I always wanted to own such a device to play along an recreate that sound. Now I have finally used a guitar on a song with a similar device like an EBow. I used a VST by Hainbach (Landfill Totems) that I have used on more of my songs. I made some samples using the Landfill Totems VST and used these. I also used one of my go to VST’s by Spitfire Audio called Labs. On this song I have used the recordings of a Ondes Musicales. I cool instrument with a very distinctive sound. The percussive sounds also come from the Labs VST by Spitfire Audio. The song sounds more experimental than my previous work. According to some feedback it sounds a bit like The Gathering (one of my favorite bands) although that wasn’t my intention. You cannot escape influences by other artists so if it is (unintentionally and subconsciously) inspired by them; so be it. I like how this one turned out. I am curious what others think about this one. The title is an anagram by the way. It is an anagram of the most simple things imaginable and I will leave it to you to figure it out. Seeing and experiencing the world as it is today and still hoping for a better world I liked the ring of it so I chose this as the title.

A Daring Utopian

As Ämpers@nd I am producing (largely but not always intentionally) melancholic and dark-sounding ambient and soundscapes. Occasionally I produce chill and relaxing (almost meditative) songs and (experimental) electronic music.
