It is an absolute pleasure to welcome Andreas to the Journey Series, as we celebrate 200 episodes! I want to thank everyone for their continuous support, and special thanks to all the artists that contributed to this series. This milestone wouldn't have been possible without you!

Hello everyone. I was honored when Adrian asked me to record the 200th episode for the Magician on Duty Journey Series. 

For this special occasion, I want to take you on a journey back in time to my teenage self falling in love with electronic music for the first time. I grew up with most of these songs and associate many special moments with them that I shared with special people. 

I think back to this time very fondly and would like to thank everyone who accompanied me on my personal journey.

But now it's time to buckle up and enjoy the trip.

Deep Ändi [Journey Series 200th Episode]

LauterBach - The Flying Classroom (Downtempo-Mix)

After more than a year, I've finally recorded a new downtempo set and I'm really excited to share this mix that I've put together over several months with you.

It has a particularly sentimental value to me due to the classic intro from the "Flying Classroom"-soundtrack that fascinated me in my childhood.
However, the mix develops more and more into a deep and powerful story, which towards the end, with many technoid elements. It's definitely suitable for the dance floor, I guess.

I hope you enjoy my new mix. Feedback is always welcome.

LauterBach - The Flying Classroom (Downtempo-Mix)

The human skin is a fascinating organ. It holds the human body together and acts as a protective layer with a membrane function. In addition, the skin is also a carrier and transmitter of information. Through it, people feel touch, temperature and also pain. Furthermore the skin shapes the individual appearance of a person. It makes feelings visible and is also an indicator for states of mind. This single by Flave & Ouhana is a bouncing downsnappy banger that fits well in a club and dance atmosphere. The driving basses are combined with vocals typical for Flave. Tidy percussions and discreet fx also round off the mix very well. All in all, both artists give us an insight into their musical skin and sound of personal system.
The remix by Deep Ändi is a captivating mix of mysticism and high energy. The robotic vocals create a futuristic atmosphere, accompanied by acid sounds and a powerful bassline that fits perfectly into the club scene.

A lovingly crafted composition equals a passionately prepared dish. Each musical element is like an ingredient. It has a designated place and is added carefully in a specific order. The basis is always a crisp kick-bass foundation, comparable to a carefully chosen carbohydrate source. A pinch of salt here, a spicy effect for the hi hats there. Just like a delicious dish, a quality composition needs time to develop. Even here, a recipe is a good base, a little freestyle makes it even better. So that it ends up crispy but fluffy inside. Producer, DJ and musician from Cape Town. Unlike my father, folk musician Brian Finch (absolute legend), I've never pursued music as a career opting instead for financial security. I've been working in corporate since 18 but dipping in and out of music since the young age of 16 when my father taught me to play guitar.  Electronic music became my passion at a young age when I decided to walk upstairs from the Playground, Cape Town's premier alternative club scene at the time, to Deviate, Cape Town's first dance music club. That had a profound effect on me, when my electronic music passion was born.

I started DJ'ing on vinyl from 17 having bought my first record, Da Hool - Meet her at the love parade. I moved to London taking only £400 with me, landed up in Camden Market and spent every penny on more vinyls.  From there I got a decent job in IT and music was always on the periphery. 

I started producing music on Fruity Loops around 2002, then bought Reason where I produced basically a lot of melodic crap. I was uninspired, even after buying an Access Virus TI synthesizer, still unable to please myself with my results. 

In 2021 my life changed forever when I survived open heart surgery and a major infection twice. Its amazing how such life events can be the biggest gift in a lifetime.  I decided to invest both time and money into my production tools and have been producing what I think is some decent tunes since.

Tom Nikso is an experienced DJ and electronic music Producer based in South West France.

In 2020 he made a comeback in the Organic / Afro House scene with his first EPs including one with the great Dandara.
