For our eighth episode, we have an absolutely jam packed 32 minute Deep Dub mix from our very own Mr. Scissors featuring an astounding 29 tracks. "Deep dub, often simply referred to as dubstep initially, traces its roots to the vibrant music scene of Kingston, Jamaica in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It emerged from reggae as a distinctive style of remixing and manipulating existing recordings. It is typically characterized by its slower tempo, emphasis on sub bass and atmospheric soundscapes, and often darker, more brooding atmosphere. With it's emergence from the early dubstep scene, it is known for its minimalist approach, hypnotic beats, and spacious feel. At its inception, Burial emerged as a key figure, crafting atmospheric soundscapes that define deep dubstep. His ability to evoke emotions through ethereal melodies and haunting vocal samples set a high standard for the genre. Labels like Hyperdub became synonymous with this subgenre, curating a catalog of music that explores the depths of sonic possibility. In the modern landscape of deep dubstep, artists like Kaiju and labels like Deep Dark & Dangerous continue to expand the genre's horizons. Their productions delve into uncharted territories, exploring the darkest corners of bass music while maintaining a sense of elegance and restraint. Alongside them, artists like Sleeper and labels like Chestplate contribute to the ongoing evolution of deep dubstep, ensuring its enduring appeal among dedicated listeners."

Berkey, born Ethan Berkowitz, is a deep dubstep and 140 DJ and producer from Sacramento, CA—representing the 916 with heavy bass and deeper intentions. As a proud member of Cymatics Events, he’s part of a collective dedicated to pushing the underground sound forward, creating immersive experiences for listeners and dancers alike.
Music has always been at the core of Berkey’s life. Growing up in a house full of sound, he picked up the guitar at just five years old and quickly became obsessed with expression through music. He spent his early years playing, writing, and experimenting with different genres—exploring everything from rock and blues to ambient and experimental sounds. That early passion laid the foundation for the artist he is today.
At 16, he was introduced to DJing—and that’s when everything clicked. The energy of mixing, the control of flow, the ability to connect with a crowd—it sparked a fire that’s only grown stronger. He dove deep into the craft, spending countless hours learning the ins and outs of sound design, mixing, and building a signature style rooted in heavy low-end, emotional tension, and hypnotic rhythm.
Now, at just 20, Berkey is already making waves. His sets are known for their depth, pressure, and storytelling—a blend of heady atmosphere and body-shaking weight that commands attention. Whether in a packed venue or an intimate underground, he brings intention and authenticity to every performance.
More than anything, Berkey’s mission is to spread good energy, connect with others through music, and leave a lasting impression everywhere he plays. With dreams of touring the world and sharing his sound on a global stage, the journey is only just beginning—and the future’s looking heavy.

With a solid foundation in early DJ culture, starting his career on vinyl and coming up alongside the influential Audiomedics crew, Josh Anderegg has stayed more than relevant. Beginning with electro, tech-house and bassline, now dabbling in halftime, DnB, and experimental bass with heavy Hip-hop influences, he has not let any genre define him. Instead, Profound.1 is about finding the intensely intentional in a diversity of sound. The name comes from the desire to always strive for mindful and meaningful artistry while ever reminding himself to be humble; that we are but a decimal, or a fraction, of the whole picture. In a sort of dancefloor alchemy, his music aims to speak to the heart of the individual while also fusing together the collective bonds between us.
Having shared the stage with artists like Nico Luminous, Govinda, An-ten-nea, Desert Dwellers, Neelix, M!NGO, Symoblico, Pathwey, Grouch, Devin Kroes, Dot Diggler, Viscous, and Hedflux, as well as playing at multiple festivals around the country and Burning Man. Profound.1 attempts to be more than ‘heady’ and is driven to make music that arouses passion and is truly transformational. Listening to Profound.1 is not a passive role.
