Hello Groovers,

This week's Liquid Sunshine turned up the heat with a relentless barrage of hard funk that hit like a sledgehammer to the soul, featuring deep cuts and bangers that proved funk music's raw power remains unmatched. From Mother Freedom Band's opening statement through to Richard Evans' "Burning Spear," every track was selected for maximum groove impact, showcasing funk's ability to move bodies while delivering serious social commentary. This was funk in its purest, most uncompromising form—no softening of edges, just pure rhythmic assault that reminded listeners why funk became the foundation for so much of what followed.

Minuit x David Joseph - Moaning for LOVE (re disco ver ''Oh Mon Amour'' 80s re-funked) back to 2018

A marathon session of extended funk workouts, with vinyl grooves stretched to their absolute limits including an epic 18-minute journey through The Jacksons' "Hum Along and Dance" that proved why some songs deserve all the space they can get.

Part I and Part II tracks showcased funk's golden age that great grooves shouldn't be constrained by radio time limits, with obscure gems sitting alongside better-known classics in a seamless flow of pure rhythmic power. This was vinyl purism at its finest—long-form funk that demanded attention, rewarded patience, and reminded listeners that before streaming's instant gratification, music was meant to be experienced as a journey rather than consumed as content.
