"Congo" by Nkrumah is a hypnotic slice of deep roots by Nkrumah aka Toronto's Kwame Salmon. The city that was home to Johnny Osbourne, Leroy Sibbles, Jackie Mittoo and countless other Reggae legends has produced another artist following this great  lineage, a singer  with a voice unlike anyone else.
Originally released in miniscule quantities as a self produced dubplate/lathe cut, the 45 caused a sensation among Djs and sound system operators world wide.  

This official release features a different mix with an extended version and a spare, mesmerizing  Dub version by Toronto's Heavy Manners crew reminiscent of late 90s/early 2000s Rhythm and Sound releases.

To me it signifies death. The best way I can describe that is a sun setting (death); vanishing only for a moon to rise (life). It's the endless cycle of the life we live in. This could be the life of us humans, emotions, shedding skin, etc...

Rooted

This is the soundtrack to the eternal waiting room of life — that strange space where you’re convinced something big might happen… but it absolutely doesn’t. Ever.

Coffee burns, lunch is a sad can of fish, the neon buzzes louder than your ambitions, and still the universe whispers:
“Did it happen yet?”
No.

A dub track for the dreamers, the procrastinators, and everyone stuck refreshing the cosmic loading screen. Heavy bass for heavy waiting, echo for the echo chamber of your thoughts, and a groove that says: nothing happened today, but at least it sounded good.
