Nach einer kleinen Sommerpause gibt es PunchMix Nummer 26. Dieser kommt abermals aus Leipzig, wo das Bassmusiklabel Defrostatica schon seit längerem von sich reden macht. Präsentiert wird es von den zwei Verantwortlichen DJ Booga und Tina.

Gründer DJ Booga ist schon seit langem kein Unbekannter in der Szene. Ebenfalls Gründer der Plattform breaks.org, aus der 2003 itsyours.info hervor ging, zeichnet er sich verantwortlich für eine besseren Austausch und öffentliche Wahrnehmung der Drum & Bass Szene.

Interessiert an Footwork und dessen Verschmelzung mit Jungle und Breakbeat, machte DJ Booga Bekanntschaft mit dem Leipziger Produzenten Kator, dessen Track ‚Connor‘ Startschuss für die Gründung des Labels war. Tina, die neben ihrer Radioshow ‚Kords+Kajal‘ auf Radio Blau Promoterin im Distillery-Club ist, stieß zur ersten Releaseparty mit ins Team.

Seitdem steht das Label für überwiegend Footwork-orientierte Bass- und Breaks-Musik rund um 160bpm. Mit Releases von Kator, Kiat oder Sinistarr und Kabuki auf der neusten ‚Rogue Style EP 1‘ gibt es bereits einen beeindruckenden Backcatalouge der große Erwartungen an die Zukunft stellt.

In ihrem gemeinsamen Mix für uns präsentieren Tina und Booga neben den Tracks der aktuellen EP eine gelungene Mischung aus Footwork, Jungle und Breakbeat.

and minimalistically arranged, creating a powerful impact in perfect harmony with deep-roaring basses and vibrant, tropical voices. La Dame's conceptual use of animal-sounding samples is based
on the idea that the Bestiary EP depicts creatures that are a mixture of human-cyborg and animal, through electronic music. We can clearly hear the creatures dancing passionately and loudly on the
broken screens of our time.

Uneven is a Bristol-based producer and DJ who has been contributing wholeheartedly to the autonomic sound for years. His debut on Defrostatica is marked by three tunes that build on his reputation and offer a vanguard perspective that works in a club environment. Kokeshi label owner Alley Cat didn't hold back with her unapologetic take on the overall gritty sound of the Density EP. Her remix of the title track is a remarkable dystopian procession.

Sun People is one of the few modern producers with an unmistakable signature sound. For more than a decade, the Austrian has seemingly effortlessly pursued the plan of developing a soulful minimalism in the field between footwork, jungle and techno, creating moments of bliss for listeners and dancers.

His third EP on Defrostatica emphasizes the contrast between footwork grooves - as in After The End - and spiraling drum techno patterns on 160 beats per minute like in Forward.

Punchblog.de ist seit dem 01.September 2014 das Projekt der zwei Erfurter DJs und Musikliebhaber Andreas Trümper und Karl Weske. Inzwischen als Trio aktiv und mit Maximilian Balcerek erweitert, versorgen sie die Leser ihres persönlichen Blogs mit interessanten Artikeln. Die Homepage bietet die Möglichkeit sich im deutschsprachigen Raum über Releases, Mixtapes, Livestreams und Events rund um Drum & Bass, Jungle, Footwork sowie anderer Broken Underground Musik zu informieren. Neben Blogartikeln und Eventdates gehört auch eine eigene Mixseries zum Blog. Unter dem Namen PUNCHMIX erscheinen in regelmäßigen Abständen Mixtapes von diversen Künstlerinnen und Künstlern. So waren im Blog bereits Gäste wie Paul SG, SubMarine, ReDraft oder Velocity vertreten. Musikalisch wird das Trio in ihrer Podcast-Reihe aktiv, in der sie neue und alte Release vorstellen.

Der „Punch“, aus dem englischen übersetzt „Schlag“ und in der Drum&Bass Produktion ein wichtiger Charakter für die Soundabmischung, soll im Namen des Blogs als Synonym für die Kraft von Drum & Bass sowie für die Schlagzeilen der Artikel stehen.

Simon Hafner’s aka Sun People’s output has been widely regarded for its inimitable takes on jungle and footwork, fascinatingly hybridised with a wide variety of styles like juke, techno, electro, minimal and dub. His deft beat programming, boundless energy and remarkable productive spontaneity has sparked a celebrated discography, with noted releases on dBridge’s Exit Records, Defrostatica, Rua Sound, Outlines sub-label Guides, an EP for Steffi’s & Virginia’s Candy Mountain imprint and much more.
