The Red Tipped Fang

For a long time, I've wanted to try one of those "southwestern desert rock" songs (sometimes called "desert noir"), like the band Calexico has done for years.  I finally went down to the studio last week to give it a try, and this is the results.  I ended up going for a bit of the "spaghetti western" flavor to it, too.  Hope you enjoy it.  The track will come out on my next "regular" album (as opposed to the "heavy music" album I'm also working on now), which will be called "Collapse, Cha Cha Cha."

Betrayal At Belmont (unreleased; unmastered)

Dave Purcell is a songwriter, drummer, singer, and guitarist based in Albuquerque, NM. He leads the band Radio Free ABQ -- their album, Destination, was released on November 1, 2024. Prior to relocating to Albuquerque in 2021, Dave led noted Cincinnati bands Pike 27 and Ghost Man On Second for many years.

Called "the quintessential Austin DIY artist" by famed local disc jockey Charlie Martin, Walter Ehresman relocated to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico in Feb. of 2015. A prolific songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and recording artist, he is equally at home presenting a delicate acoustic ballad in an intimate club as he is busting out screaming lead guitar with a full rock band on a roaring stage. However, he’s just as likely to be holed up in his Snipe Bog Studios, surrounded by odd gear and recording strange, unclassifiable experimental music at 4am with a big grin on his face. The consistent factor is a restless musical spirit, always looking for something new, coupled with sophisticated and fearlessly honest lyric-writing. October of 2023 saw the release of his 21st solo album of original music, "Cassandra, Cursed".

Hailing from AustinTexas originally but the South Island of New Zealand has been home for over 25 years. High Planes Grifter is just a dig at the televangelists I grew up seeing on TV and the  metaphysical snake oil salesmen that seem to be around every corner today.  Funk and soul punk ,grunge rock and electronica, reggae and Dub. It’s all in there somewhere. Thanks for listening!
