Another switch of genre see's us go from drum and base to the unique sounds of Irish Dj , Producer and passionate turntablist , REOSC . The Dublin based Dj has topped charts with his Techno productions and has the Dj'ing prowess to back it up earning him massive repsect both at home and in Detroit. I must give respect to Julian "Big Brother Almighteeeee" Eaves, the head of the Gamma Phi Gamma frat on the campus of the HBCU Mission College for the inspirattion for this track.  His proud declaration of his hometown roots made me realize that I needed to put together an Interbay track in honor of Hitsville USA--Detroit.  

Of course, the fact that he made that declaration as an insult to Dap, who is a decent dude and his heart is in the right place, doesn't sit perfectly with me.  

As someone white enough to have been born in Wisconsin and lives in Seattle, I probably wasn't the target audience for Spike Lee's "School Daze"--and yet, I loved it when I saw it and I think of it a lot.  Such an impossibly great cast (Giancarlo Esposito, Lawrence Fishburne and Tisha Campbell are in the snippets pilfered for this track...but so many more!)  and so many quotable lines and memorable scenes.  

Do I feel slightly sheepish about using these samples if I'm not part of the culture(s) that they represent?  Perhaps.  I do feel that I'm sharing this with respect and out of love--but I debated cutting the last sample from Big Brother Almighty to Dap--but if you've seen the film, you kind of need that moment for closure.  

Meanwhile...WAKE UP! is still good advice.  Thanks Spike!  

The music on this track blends Motown elements and Detroit Techno--two tastes that taste great together, though you wouldn't have guessed that before hearing it.  Some of the live recordings on this track are created, others are borrowed...but there are far fewer instrumental samples than you'd think.    

I've been working on this track for awhile now and I'm happy to share it, finally.  I hope you like it.

"For this mix I wanted to bring together different sounds and atmospheres, hopefully teasing out a spectrum of emotions. Lately, I have challenged myself to become more eclectic and playful in my sets, something I admire and enjoy a lot when I’m on the dancefloor myself. His mixes for Radio UR (Underground Resistance), The Grid (Detroit Techno Militia), Groove Magazin or Trax Magazine remain some of the best frequency transmissions to surface to air.

Armed with a Soviet Union reel to reel Majak 203, his scorching raw analogue and searing acid electro or techno productions have been picked up by foundational Detroit labels such as Twilight 76, Matrix, Detroit Underground, Databass, Detroit Techno Militia, Cratesavers Intl, Visillusion as well as around the world from Holland's iconic M>O>S Recordings to Lobster Theremin, Chiwax, 1Ø Pills Mate, Rotterdam Electronix, Shipwrec, Diffuse Reality, Bass Agenda, Land Of Dance and more. 

ARH's music has been picked up by various media outlets including DJ Mag, Mixmag, Groove Magazine, Resident Advisor, Trax, Inverted Audio, The Ransom Note.
