Bill Evans never thought he’d end up in Hell.

He wasn’t even sure he believed in Hell. He barely believed in royalties.
But there he was — in a smoke-filled jazz club that looked suspiciously like the Village Vanguard, only slightly hotter and with worse clientele. The sign outside read “Welcome to Inferno’s Lounge — Where Every Night is a Comeback Tour.”

The Devil, naturally, was at the bar, sipping something that looked like scotch and sounded like it was screaming softly.

Devil: “Bill, my boy! Finally. The man whose voicings could make God weep.”
Bill: “He did weep. I saw the reviews.”

The Devil grinned, flashing teeth that were too perfect for a jazz fan.

Devil: “You’ll love it here. Eternal gigs, no critics, and the drinks are always—well, technically—on fire.”
Bill: “Sounds like every club I ever played, except the checks cleared occasionally.”

Bill sat at the piano, a Steinway whose lid opened by itself, hissing faintly as if reluctant to participate in damnation. The keys were slightly uneven—naturally, the black ones were hotter.

Bill: “You tune it yourself?”
Devil: “Every day. I’m very hands-on. Ask the organists.”

Bill lit a cigarette. The smoke curled upward, formed the shape of a treble clef, and then sighed in disappointment.
He began to play. “Peace Piece,” maybe. Or maybe something that had never existed before, a melody halfway between grace and guilt. The Devil swayed. The demons snapped their fingers off-beat, as demons do.

Demon #1: “Man, he’s really burning tonight.”
Demon #2: “Everything’s burning tonight.”

When Bill finished, there was silence — the kind you get when everyone’s wondering whether they’ve just witnessed art or a nervous breakdown.

The Devil, genuinely moved, dabbed at his eye with a cocktail napkin labeled Property of Dante.
Devil: “Beautiful, Bill. Absolutely infernal. You belong here.”
Bill: “That’s what my ex-wife said.”

The Devil leaned closer.
“Stay. Play forever. I’ll give you anything — fame, glory, a properly mixed recording of ‘Kind of Blue.’”
Bill frowned. “You don’t have that already?”
“Sony’s lawyers are in the ninth circle. Even I can’t get to them.”

Bill stood, brushed the ashes off his jacket.
“Listen, I appreciate the offer, but eternity’s a little long for someone with stage fright.”
He looked around. The audience was starting to melt, politely, like candles applauding.

Devil: “Where will you go?”
Bill: “Somewhere quieter. Maybe purgatory. I hear they’ve got good brushes there.”

And with that, he walked toward a flickering neon exit sign that read “Limbo — Musicians Only.”
The Devil sighed and turned to his assistant, a demon with a clipboard.

“Why do I even try? Artists. They’d rather suffer in obscurity than thrive in damnation.”
He downed the rest of his drink, which immediately refilled itself out of guilt.

“Alright,” he said. “Who’s next?”

The assistant checked the list.

“Uh… Kenny G.”

The Devil buried his face in his hands.

“Oh, come on. Even I have limits.”

DCLXVI is an emerging artist from Uzbekistan who combines the Phonk genre with other musical genres and creates genres such as Wave phonk (atmospheric), Phonk house, Witch house and DNB. And the most important goal in his work is to convey every rhythm, note and melody in music to the hearts of his fans and listeners, as words are imaginable. He started making music in 2020, influenced by the Underground Hip-hop scenes of the US South, as well as the dark and ethereal vibes of wave music. He uses samples from old movies, as well as synthesizers, drums, and vocals, to create his own style of Phonk, which is characterized by heavy bass, distorted beats, and haunting melodies, to create immersive and emotional sonic landscapes that transport the listener to different places and moods. Some of his popular tracks include “LOST”, “DISSECTION”, and “ERROR”.

DCLXVI is one of the most promising talents in the Phonk and wave scene, and has gained a loyal fanbase on platforms like Spotify, YouTube, and SoundCloud. He realised his debut album, which is called "FORGOTTEN" in 2023.

Every track is a chapter: sometimes dark, sometimes euphoric, but always truthful. Skullmunch is the voice of my subconscious, a universe where reality and imagination collide.
