Presenting the first of three choice chunks of our Kings Day DJ set in Amsterdam this year. (Kings Day, if you don't know, is a national holiday in NL during which the whole place turns decidedly orange, drinks a whole lot of beer and goes nuts.) 

For the last few years, as part of the festivities, we've been hosting a little secret location sound system party during which we can cut loose and play an extended DJ set covering a whole bunch of bases - sometimes with friends guesting, sometimes (like this year) flying solo for the whole day, dropping as many solid personal favourites as we can along the way, natuurlijk.... 

So here's the first chunk, from early in the day, warming things up with a soulful, skanking, boom-bapping selection of edits, remixes, favourites and classics - hope you enjoy!

'As a lover of long sets, this one is no exception. Spanning just over two hours, the mix tells a story that begins with an iconic intro track by Geometric Vision and closes with the raw, beautiful power of Valerie Ace. In between, you’ll hear a journey through industrial, raw techno, wild EBM, and the unmistakable influence of the legendary Ancient Methods, whose impact has shaped much of my today techno style. It’s also important to highlight the influence of the @khidi club, their residents, sound, and values. Several tracks in the mix are produced by KHIDI artists, who consistently contribute to the darker side of the electronic scene with high-quality releases. Local Krakow clubs also play a key role, giving me space to perform, grow, dance, and be an active part of the music community. Long story short: this set is about passion, energy, and desire'.

Despite a deep, interdisciplinary love for electronic music and a sharp ear for hidden gems across genres, Forest’s core sound is rooted in industrial, raw, hard techno, EBM, and dark wave. His guiding principle behind the decks is to always honor the energy and storytelling of the set while keeping people dancing. An active figure in Krakow’s underground nightlife scene, Forest is not only a dedicated DJ but also the founder of Citadel a community and event series built around electronic music and the values of freedom, equality, and self-expression. He plays across nearly every venue in Krakow and beyond, spreading raw sound and underground values that transcend music. For Forest, it’s not just a sound it’s a lifestyle rooted in openness, freedom, and resistance to conformity.

From the city where the word Techno was coined behind the decks of clubs like Ritter Butzke, KitKatClub, and Rakete or festivals like ADE: After discovering her love for electronic music at an early age in Frankfurt a. M., Mia Mangata moved to Berlin in 2016. Captivated by the city's nightlife, she began filling local dance floors 3 years later. Since then, Mia has performed at 50 venues across Germany, Poland, and the Netherlands. Early on, she was known for a driving blend of Melodic Techno, Indie Dance, and Techno. Today, Mia Mangata focuses on powerful Peak Time Techno between 130 and 145 BPM. On the dance floor, she goes full throttle – delivering fast, focused, and energetic sets with a sound that’s dynamic, high-pressure, and built to move.
