For DOSember 2025, I was asked by ObserverHerb on Twitch to make a cover of any track by Zircon in a retro style (e.g., chiptune or 1990s MIDI).

I decided to make a DOS-like cover of "Antigravity", the final and titular track from Zircon's 2007 album, which you can find here: https://zirconstudios.bandcamp.com/album/antigravity

This was a challenge to cover with OPL3-style instruments. The original composition is carried by sustained, sweeping pads, for which I did not readily have (appealing) equivalents. I was very much out of my element, and my arrangement felt lifeless and flat. Ultimately, I opted to add percussion to maintain the energy (and increase the "DOS-like" feel).

Antigravity [DOS-like cover] [orig. Zircon]

I mostly make NES-like chiptunes, but also dabble in other electronic music. I enjoy being able to hop between styles and genres while working within the limitations of the chip instrumentation.

I am very stubborn about imitating the 2A03's constraints while avoiding the DPCM channel entirely. Consider it a self-imposed challenge.

As a listener, I have a big soft spot for the OPL3 and the HuC6280.

Items posted here might be revised and released on Bandcamp at a later date.
