Frederik Neu - What are you listening to?

I tried to combine a lot of tracks which are connected with memories or influenced me in my musical development. Therefore the mix got very personal for me. It’s a mix of music which I would call experimental, electro pop and some house, so I stayed in electronic genres which was not intended when I started my research.

I really wanted to stick to the idea of this series and don’t have a focus on club music, still there are a few tracks which could be played in a club but in general this is all listening music to me. 

In this mix the connections between single tracks were not my focus, although I tried to sort them in a way which made sense for me. A really important part of DJing in general for me is to catch the vibe of the moment and of course this is not possible with a pre selected sequence of tracks. So I would call this more a collection of tracks which have a big emotional value for me than a real DJ Mix.

I‘m super happy about the opportunity to actively occupy myself with my musical background. Of course I‘m listening to a lot more genres in my free time but this would go beyond the scope for this mix.

"Weekend Recap, Information, & Music for the Listeners"

In this episode, we cover a lot of ground. There's a guessing game, various words that start with a specific letter, and a short reading from an unpublished author out of Cambridge. 

"Some Are Weaker Than Others"

Cold Frequency is a melancholic indie track about distance — from others, and from yourself.

It drifts between noise, silence and layered guitars, where everything feels slightly out of focus.

I wanted to capture that strange calm that comes when you realise you’re tuned to a different frequency than everyone else.

Written, recorded and produced by Tore G Thomassen.

Built in Cubase, using guitars, drones and textures layered over time.

Cold Frequency

Mattie Glaze is a musician/producer from Austin, TX. Her influences include Coil, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Cluster, Aphex Twin, Wendy Carlos, Tricky, and many more. 

Her debut album, Waiting for Robot, was created in collaboration with the visual artist Celia Eberle, whose dancing animatronic sculptures were on display at the Nasher Sculpture Center in 2022.

Her second album, Nimbimbo, is a collection of tracks written for and inspired by video games.

In 2024, she released the track "The Heart As Clock" to accompany Celia Eberle's exhibit at Artpace, San Antonio.

She is currently hard at work on her third album. You can hear a preview on her Cruel and Unusual Demos (2025), only on SoundCloud.

CHANGES TO blind is Phil Zampino, aka philz squid, aka Me.  I've been creating unusual music since the early 1980s, and I haven't stopped yet.

Here you'll find mainly (~70%) the stuff I do while I try to create the soundtrack for an game I'm working on. But I also experiment a little bit with all electronic genres I find intersting mixed with koto/shamisen and other things. But also experiments with weird sounds and alternative rock I guess? This is a non-profit hobby based thing. I'm also not affiliated with any company, label or franchise.
