INVADERS DIE

This is the first ever Interbay track that was inspired by a Reddit post.  (Other inspirations, certainly...but that's the one that clicked everything else into place.)  

I don't frequent Reddit, but, occasionally, I stumble into it...and that was the case around midnight last night.  The thread I saw started with someone who wanted an explanation of the British slang term "punters"--what it meant, how it is used, etc.  She wanted help on a specific phrase that she heard:  "If the food is good, the punters will come."  

In this case, "punters" meant "customers" (other meanings can include "inveterate and foolish gamblers, and also people who patronize prostitutes--that, I suppose that last one could ALSO mean "customers.")  

As a bit of an Anglophile, I knew the answer (as did hundreds of Redditors--I'm not special)...but what I was struck by was the "musicality" of the specific phrase "If the food is good, the punters will come."  It had a cadence, a rhythm and a flow that instantly put a song idea into my mind.  (And it all fell into place rather quickly from there--obviously, if you're seeing and hearing this today!)  

If you're familiar with the "new wave" goofy nerd rock of the 80s (...like Devo or Oingo Boingo), this will be pulling a warm comfy blanket around you on a chilly night.  Not only does one of the synth lines hint at the lead guitar line from Adam & The Ants "Beat My Guest"--but when the heavily processed guitars come in about two-thirds of the way through, because of the speed of the track and the predominance of synths throughout, I think the obvious comparable would be Sigue Sigue Sputnik.  (Musically--I would not look good in fishnets and platform boots.  Not now, anyway.)    

Energetic and fun...and goofy as all hell.  This honestly feels like a track I could have done with either Cremation Dance or DangerScience...and I could see it becoming popular in a particular scene, somewhere in the world.  (Doctor Demento, maybe?)
