What is Felixswing?

What I Like is a modern electro-swing romp - punchy brass stabs, upright bass grooves, and crisp electronic percussion drive the floor while playful vintage-inspired female vocals glide over chopped swing with playful sass and euphoric harmonics. From cheeky scat breaks to some sample-rich breakdowns, it’s a wild, off-beat celebration of rhythm, joy, and dancing ‘til morning light.

Warren Ellis may have asked their producer, Nick Launay, about the band, Red Light District, remixing a song for the Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds side project, Grinderman, and it is possible that one of Nick Launay's close mates was Shok and then a Suite of three remixes from Shok was born and this is one of the three mixes from which are all different genres.

This mix features the Red Light District family including Juliette Angeli & Elissa Rosen on backing vocals, Jason Savvy on Accordion, Andres Ortiz on Saxophone with Shok on drums, bass, piano and trumpet.

Shok is a producer, musician, multi-instrumentalist. His use of bass guitar, guitar and even live drums (including live tambourine) and his own voice as backing vocals, set his sound apart from the usual fully electronic remix.

Notable remixes include Fischerspooner, The BellRays (Lisa K of The Basement Jaxx), Nick Cave and Warren Ellis's Grinderman, Mirah, KMFDM, Combichrist, Fun Lovin Criminals, Isaac Hayes &amp; Burt Bacharach, Godhead, autoKratz, featuring bassist, Peter Hook (Joy Division / New Order), Daniel Myer's Architect and Haujobb.

Recently having wrapped a mix for the new UK sensation, Queen Of Hearts, he is currently remixing Neil Finn (Crowded House, Split Enz) for the Pajama Club album, Max Pashm and Gotye.

Production and collaborative credits include work with Josie Cotton, Lady Gaga, DJ Superstar Keoki, L7's Donita Sparks, Traci Lords, Douglas McCarthy (Nitzer Ebb), Technical Itch and Daniel Ash (Bauhaus / Love And Rockets).

Shok has composed music for Nickelodeon cartoons, A&amp;E’e Biography, Paramount Pictures, Fox, Miramax, M. Night Shyamalon, PS3, Newgrounds and Michael Bay’s Transformers in a musical collaboration with Adam Freeland, Bassbin Twins and Alex Metric.

He has been the drummer of Mount Sims and Thrill Kill Kult, Red Light District (1920s, 30s neo-vaudeville cabaret vs. a time machine), worked with Juno Reactor and is part of Zeitmahl and Tres Vampires, a project with Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde and David J. of Bauhaus / Love And Rockets set for release 2012.
