Ryan Elliott was born and raised in a small town just outside Detroit, and his career to date has been informed as much by looking out from the city as in towards it. A childhood love for music developed into an immersion in the clubbing scene when he returned to the city from university. DJing soon followed, with a four-year residency alongside his friend Matthew Dear building a firm foundation for what was to come. Working with the Ghostly International / Spectral Sound organization helped Ryan build a worldwide network and audience, and in 2009 he moved with his cat and 500 records to Berlin, and he soon established a DJ residency at Berghain / Panorama Bar - where he is at ease playing in either space - and started releasing on their in-house Ostgut Ton label. However, his first trip outside of the US was to visit fabric back in 2000, and he first performed at the club in 2005. He has remained a firm favourite ever since, and now joins the long-running fabric mix series for its 88th instalment.

A compelling groove-oriented mix can be one of the most challenging for a DJ to realize, but with fabric 88, Ryan Elliott has done so with considerable style and panache. Deftly avoiding common pitfalls, he interlaces a variety of textures and timbres in a non-linear sequence, allowing the mix to ebb and flow without ever losing impetus throughout its 70-minute duration. Elliott takes less than 15 minutes to build up a head of steam, before Phil Moffa’s liquid groove ‘Ignition’ swirls into the majestic echo chamber that is Tallmen 785’s remix of ‘Back Door’ by Fiedel. Dubby reverb, rolling drums and muscular basslines gradually swell the mix again until The Persuader’s ‘Inre Stenen’ ushers in a contemplative section. The rhythmical mantra of Anna Caragnano & Donato Dozzy’s ‘Parola’ maintains a propulsive momentum even through a momentary beatless interlude, whilst the pairing of Robert Hood’s ‘Master Jack’ and Mike Parker’s ‘Luminescent Black’ soon provide an intense counterpoint. The yearning synths of Z.I.P.P.O’s ‘Shift’ and Jack Murphy’s ‘B1’ herald fabric 88’s conclusion, leaving the listener to contemplate just how Ryan Elliott managed to navigate such a varied terrain with such consummate ease.

Small Records is a Norwegian independent record label based in Oslo, that specialises in Electronic music genres like Techno, House, Melodic, Deep House, Minimal, Deep Tech and Tech House.  

The label was established in 2010 by founder, DJ, promoter and producer Eric Small, initially to distribute the debut EP “Super Superficial” by Poporn Radio and “Great outdoors” by Mudman, both releases was only distributed on CD’s. From this point on the releases came frequently on digital platforms.

In 2015, the label released “Still Sleepy EP” by Mudman, This was a turning point for the label. The release got some steady remixes from great producers like Marcello V.O.R., Lars Wickinger, and Robert Solheim to mention a few. The release gained massive support from many well established Dj’s around the world. The next success was “Deep Sea” by Arthur Thalison & Caia Lopez from Brazil. With vocals by Cari Golden and remixes from Sezer Uysal, DLC and Andre Anttony, the EP received lots of positive feedback and support.

After this the label signed and released numerous EP’s, compilations and albums, and Small Records now has 47 releases with over 300 tracks from more than 80 different artists and groups around the globe. After a longer break, due to label boss Eric Smalls very successful, but also time consuming club Elefant, Small Records is now back! Watch out for some really amazing new music soon to be released, and stay tuned for the next chapters of this journey trough the wonderful world of electronic music.

Daniël Majoor, also the producer behind the Alio Forte project, lives in Haarlem and has been involved with electronic music since childhood.

Growing up with the music of Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, OMD, Ultravox, Depeche Mode, and later the Ambient scene, he tried to emulate his idols with the few instruments he had. Daniël was primarily interested in sounds and learned to create his own sounds on borrowed synthesizers and keyboards.

Daniël is self-taught, doesn't read music, and taught himself to play.

Later in life, he was able to create his own studio and fulfill his dream: being surrounded by synths and technology, as in the photos of Jarre and Vangelis, while creating his own soundscapes and compositions.

Daniël doesn't see himself as a musician, but rather as someone who "paints" with sound. Just as a painter mixes his colours, Daniel continually experiments with new sounds until he has found the right atmosphere.
