This body of work is a deeply introspective and emotionally charged exploration of memory, love, self-destruction, and the human condition. 'Folia de Gê" is a lyric by Gê de José, produced by Orbiuxx. It is a Maracatú, a rhythm typical of street festivities in the Northeast of Brazil, played with drums called "alfaia". The lyrics mention rhythms from Brazil, such as "samba de roda", "samba de coco", "capoeira", "maracatú" and "frevo". What a day to announce this breathtaking new album from Me Lost Me! ‘This Material Moment’, the fourth full-length from Newcastle-based artist Jayne Dent, delights in songwriting, creating a beguiling mix of soaring vocals and atmospheric electronics that playfully push the boundaries of genre. Today we’re sharing ‘Compromise!’, a stunning lead single concerned with the notion of ‘performing’ a life, rather than ‘living’ one. 

Concerned with physicality, interpretations, and, yes, materiality, ‘This Material Moment’ is an album akin to rummaging through a box of long-forgotten trinkets. With each song, Me Lost Me unearths something and asks us to consider it from every angle. "This is an album which uses words as a material, an experimental tool, full of metaphor, abstraction and analogies.” Jayne says, “it has softness and anger, humour, hope and despair, intensity of feeling in all directions expressed as textures, objects, places." 

‘This Material Moment’ was written and arranged solo, but realised wonderfully in the recording by a core band of John Pope on electric/double bass, Faye MacCalman on clarinet, and now with the addition of Ewan Mackenzie (Dextro/Pigs x7) on drums . The album was recorded by Sam Grant at Blank Studios in Newcastle, who also worked on the exquisite previous album ‘RPG’.

Nils Frahm meets Lithuanian lullaby in Ateisiu (Nightfall Rework) - a sonic tribute to Soviet Lithuania’s lost youth culture — blending archival folk vocals, ambient house textures, atmospheric synth bed of Nightfall by One Half of Bent @simon-mills as well as original samples from the 1969 psychological drama Birželis, vasaros pradžia (Lithuanian Film Studio, 1969).
This track features a reimagining of "Ateisiu, mergužėle ateisiu," — originally sung by Vytautas Petrušonis and the Eglutės vocal ensemble — now echoed across decades as a memory in motion.

“Sam McGee’s Lover’s Lament”, is making its anticipated release as the first single collaboration by singer-songwriter Melyssa Lee and members of new band, Education Party. An innovative take on a classic literary work “The Cremation of Sam McGee,” the song explores the fictional perspective of this character’s lover with themes of love and loss from a historical context. “It is about the realization that might have been when a loved one prospects to hopes and dreams during the Yukon Gold Rush back in the late 1800s,” comments Melyssa Lee.

   This musical work of literary inspiration is bound to resonate with many, both with readers of the original work, as well as rekindling new interest for both the story and now the music. How does the collaboration process between Lee and Education Party influence the final sound of the track? “In the song, you’ll hear the cinematic expression and collaboration of all the musical instruments and influences of our band members to paint the story in a style unique to Education Party. Even the album art was painted by one of our band members,” says band member Jerevieux.
