Red Signs In The Landscape

I started writing L’Air Du Temps in April 2019. I had no home, no studio - just borrowed moments at my sister’s house whenever she went on vacation. I’d slip in, sit at the piano, and let the music find me.

Rhythm has always been my lifeline. I was a dancer before I was anything else, moving before I could form words. The pounding heartbeat of percussion, the pulse of a melody threading through space - I live for that. Samba was my first love, its relentless drive intoxicating, but Flamenco is what pulls me apart and puts me back together. The weight of it, the fire in its bones.

This track was born from a forbidden connection, a dangerous kind of excitement, the kind that sets your pulse against the walls of your chest like a drum. That time in my life was filled with movement - Madrid, Granada, nights wrapped in Flamenco’s raw energy. I imagined the prelude to this song as a dance - sharp, deliberate Flamenco steps, fused with the slink of burlesque. Traditional meeting modern. The tension of two worlds colliding.

Then, as life does, it shifted. I moved again. And again. The song lay unfinished. A year later, I found myself in a small Andalusian coastal town, stranded on a mountain during lockdown, heartbroken in a way that only artists know. The kind of heartbreak that doesn’t fade, just transforms. I turned to love songs instead. But this track… it stayed with me. It waited.

Maybe that’s what we do - we carry unfinished pieces of ourselves across cities, across years, until we are ready to meet them again.

Now, I have my van - my music studio on wheels - my only true home. And with it, I can finally return to L’Air du Temps, shape it into what it was meant to be. For now, here’s the Rhythm Track Demo, the first heartbeat of a song that started long ago.
