I wanted to make a fairly pure house track--building it from the 909s up.  I wanted to keep it minimal and deep--but, when do I ever get what I want?  ;)  

As I tend to do, I colored in more of the blank spots than a truely minimal deep house track can handle...so, in the end (and this should come as no surprise), I ended up with...something that is essentially Interbay.  

I think this track is perverse--not sexually perverse (if that's what you want, dive into the back catalog and check out "Digitated") but perverse in the "deliberately and obstinately unacceptable behavior, even when knowing the potential consequences" way.  

This song is emotionally all over the place.  You have the honest thoughts of someone suffering with depression*.

So far, in the entire catalog of Interbay tracks posted here on SoundCloud, there is only ONE track, so far, that includes my voice...and it's not this one.)  

In addition to that very serious spoken word element, the royalty-free female vocal hook definitely is wistful and melancholy--and yet, there are times when the music sounds more like what a baseball stadium organist might play to get the crowd into the game (especially towards the end of the track.)  

It is one thing to temper melancholy with a touch of energy--so many of my favorite songs of all time are sad songs with surprisingly upbeat and danceable music--but again, THIS feels positively perverse.  The sad bits are unrelentingly sad while the danceable peppy bits could hardly be more pleasant (well, I guess I could have added horns...or steel drums...but my point stands.)  

While that's not my voice on this track, I am facing some mental health struggles of my own (mdd, ptsd, long term grief, mild hoarder syndrome and a ton of things related to recently diagnosed neurodivergence)--so, I think I was trying to express how strange it feels to be on the inside of a depressive mindset while observing a whole world around me that is full of hope and color.  

(There is a story behind the thumbnail which, if I told it, would explain why I chose it.)  

I think it is also rather hopeful.  This isn't necessarily a permanent situation, and the one day, the sun might come out (though, living in Seattle, the chances of that are less than other places.)  

This odd mixture works for me--it feels real to my experiences.  And I both hope that it might feel real to you...AND I hope you never feel this way.  

Of course, I absolutely hope you like this latest Interbay track.

Once in a blue moon, there will be a song I make at 1am, play it back in the morning after forgetting about it, and instantly know it has to be released. This was the case here.

It’s upbeat but chill at the same time (doesn’t feel like a 135bpm song but is) and her repetitive chorus has been stuck in my roommate and I’s heads for nearly a full calendar year now (wild to see the creation date was Jan 15, 2024 - thought it was like 6 months max) - so I’m glad other people can finally listen to it!

@denisrodd lived, learned and got cold in Berlin for 14 winters! Now back in Lanzarote and based in Famara, he brought his Berlin record label Cochlea Music (vinyl and digital, with international repercussion), and all the knowledge and experience that comes from living in the world capital of electronic music, besides being active as a dj and producer in that city.
