This project started out as a little SciFi/futuristic EP but quickly evolved into a full album taking inspiration from some of my favourite SciFi movies and TV shows.

Welcome to the board. I have the Encomium video and I love the 4 Non Blondes on Misty Mountain. As far as an Encomium II, dude I dont think I could have made a better list. I just think I would like to have Tool do two songs - have you heard their No Quarter? As far as there being tons of tributes out, that is true but they are nothing tributes. That list that you put together is now and rocking, all those bands have something to say - The hip Hop tribute to Zeppelin did not. Nice post.


I liked the idea of -the song retains the name...unknown bands doing led zep songs. the enconium thing was pretty good...but i never listen to it now. The problem is when a band or an artist gets known and has an identity of their own, sometimes it just doesnt work on a zeppelin song. But i'm sure someone will come along and record a cover of a led zep song one day and it'll be a popular song in the charts, maybe.


First, other than Tori Amos and Robert Plant himself (Is it bad form to record a song for yourown tribute album?), none of these bands are remotely progressive. The majority wouldprobably fall into the wide category of alternative rock. And then there's Duran Duran.Most of the songs on this collection stay fairly close to the original Led Zep recordings. Andgroups like 4 Non Blondes, with a female vocalist, can sound eerily like the old Robert Plant(who himself sound more like the tired, recent Robert Plant). Blind Melon does a good job on
Out On The Tiles
, even though they changed the verse section.Sheryl Crow makes 
D'yer Maker
 even more poppy. And Henry Rollins shouts out
Four Sticks
 like it's another version of 
TV Party
. The biggest stinker on the albumis 
Custard Pie
 performed by Helmet with David Yow. Yow is right. The guy is horrible. Iknow it a punk thing to do, but he comes across as a mentally challenged individual (to bepolitically correct), and just ruins the song.So with nothing really making this worthwhile, the best I can give it is two stars.
