End Of The Day

Redeem the circumstances of our daily lives, we pray, and daily encourage those whom You have entrusted us to serve, so that when we come at last to our homeland, we do so bearing sheaves of fruit for You. 

May You be satisfied with seeing Your likeness in our hearts, and may Your glory accompany us to the very end of our days and beyond, even as the cause of Christ advances this day right around the world. 

And so, at the end of each day, may we lie down in peace and sleep, for You alone, O Lord, make us dwell in safety, because You, Lord, sustain us.

Redeeming at the end of the day

On this record, we can hear the sound of my electric shutter closing as I was getting ready to sleep. It was recorded at night, in my room, right before turning off the lights. The mechanical hum of the shutter blends with the quietness of the surroundings, marking the moment when the day comes to an end. For me, this sound is tied to a feeling of closure and comfort — the small ritual of creating a sense of safety and calm before resting.
