About Astrek:

Melbourne-based DJ and producer Archie Sweeney, known as Astrek, has carved a niche in the city’s electronic music scene with his emotive and dynamic sound. Beginning his DJ journey fresh out of high school in 2016, Archie teamed up with his best friend Dion Paola, reviving Dion’s early start behind the decks. Together, they founded Wolftrax in 2018, a progressive house duo dedicated to pushing musical boundaries and creating captivating soundscapes for their audience.

Astrek’s sets and unique sound have been shaped by Melbourne’s rich electronic scene and the energetic festivals that sparked his passion for music. His blend of deep, atmospheric, and driving beats has led him to play at some of Melbourne’s top venues like the iconic Revolver Melbourne and at Bloc Festival in Bright. Alongside his solo work, he’s had the privilege of supporting prominent names like DJ Koze, Stephan Bodzin, Double Touch, Simon Vuarambon, and GMJ & Matter, establishing his place among the city's progressive house talents.

In 2022, Archie took the plunge into production, releasing tracks through respected labels such as AH Digital, Ugenius, Future Avenue, and Aviary Recordings. With a steady stream of unreleased music and collaborations on the horizon, Astrek is dedicated to crafting sets that captivate the dance floor, drawing listeners into a journey of emotive grooves and intricate sound production.

Welcome to the episode 68 of ZZGO Radio!

I hope the month has treated you well.  For me, it's been a bit quiet.  I took some time off from running events to rest up and work on some other projects.  My 20 foot diameter projection mapped dome is looking pretty cool and I'm excited to show off the updates at Myschevia, a small regional Burning Man event in October near Dallas.  I also have a renegade party coming up in October that I've been doing some prepping for.  We're taking over some drainage tunnels for a rave, so I'm looking to play some banging techno which will be a fun change of pace.  If you're in the Austin, Texas area, feel free to DM me for details.

"Born in Paraná, Entre Ríos, Argentina, my true home has always been Rosario, Santa Fe. From a young age, my passion was teaching, especially in the aquatic field. I immersed myself in the world of swimming and, for 15 years, I was a professional swimmer.

My life revolved around water and music. In my free time, I let myself get carried away by the electronic rhythms of legendary DJs like Hernán Cattaneo, Nick Warren, John Digweed, Guy J, and Henry Saiz, among others. My circle of friends was full of talented DJs, and my passion was dancing to their sets in the city's clubs.

But the most important thing in my life is my family. Since 2015, I've been married to the love of my life, my partner and mother of my baby. We share the same passion for electronic music and together we've experienced unforgettable moments in the music world.

In November 2023, I decided to take the reins and become a DJ. I started making music. for my friends at private events, and soon, I began sharing my music with the world through Soundcloud. My "New Horizons" session was born with a special meaning: the beginning of a new journey in my life, becoming a dad. The first session was released the same day we saw our future baby for the first time, October 1, 2024.

My musical style is progressive house, a genre I love for its ability to evoke deep emotions. In my sets, I try to capture my feelings through hypnotic sounds, lots of groove, and sentimental melodies. My goal is to take my listeners on a musical journey that makes them feel, reflect, and connect with their own essence.

I invite you all to enjoy this process of growth and musical exploration. Life is a journey full of new horizons, and I'm excited to share this chapter with you, along with my family and my music. Cheers!

Mi vida giraba en torno al agua y la música. Mi círculo de amigos estaba lleno de talentosos DJs, y mi pasión era bailar al compás de sus sets en los boliches de la ciudad.

Pero lo más importante en mi vida es mi familia. Desde 2015, estoy casado con el amor de mi vida, mi compañera y madre de mi bebé. Compartimos la misma pasión por la música electrónica y juntos hemos vivido momentos inolvidables en el mundo de la música.

En noviembre de 2023, decidí tomar el relevo y convertirme en DJ. Empecé a musicalizar para mis amigos en eventos privados y, pronto, me lancé a compartir mi música con el mundo a través de Soundcloud. Mi sesión "Nuevos Horizontes" nació con un significado especial: el inicio de una nueva travesía en mi vida, ser papá. La primera sesión se lanzó el mismo día que vimos a nuestro futuro bebé por primera vez, 01 de Octubre 2024.

Mi estilo musical es el progressive house, un género que me apasiona por su capacidad para evocar emociones profundas. En mis sets, intento plasmar mis sentimientos pasando por sonidos hipnóticos, mucho groove y melodías sentimentales. Mi objetivo es llevar a mis oyentes en un viaje musical que los haga sentir, reflexionar y conectarse con su propia esencia.

Los invito a todos a disfrutar de este proceso de crecimiento y exploración musical. La vida es un viaje lleno de nuevos horizontes, y estoy emocionado de compartir este capítulo con ustedes, junto a mi familia y mi música. ¡Saludos!"
